the one thing i cannot abide is vehicles going all touch screen.
my Busy Forks has fixed buttons along the bottom of the center stack for seat heat and HVAC settings. temperature is with a dedicated physical up/down toggle. volume has hard buttons on the console and steering wheel alike.

everything else can be on the touchscreen via CarPlay or whatever, imo. but these things need to be in predictable locations, not in menus like with Sensus (eh @mandown ).

Hate hate hate not having a physical control for heat/air that I can instinctively reach for without looking. I also hate that when my stupid infotainment system crashes that the heat/air is connected to it and that all shuts down until things reboot. Nothing like driving around in summer heat and having the AC stop for a while so the car can take a quick nap.

What are you driving where the infotainment crashes? I have never even heard of this before now.

2023 Volvo. It’s a google based system. It resets all the time particularly if I’m using the GPS for navigation. Updates don’t fix it. Shortly after I bought the car the service center manager said “I’ll be seeing you.” I asked why. He replied that it would be for the infotainment system. He told be I should manually reboot it weekly. I’ve been on road trips when it just shuts down about 2 minutes from my next turn or off-ramp and I have to hope it reboots before I get there.

Riding the baggage carousel.
Happens in the Leaf with some regularity, but not often enough I can reliably recreate it. Also a google system, though I hardly ever use it, so the only thing that happens is I lose the music and I'm stuck with the horror of my own mind for a minute or two.

People who are insufficiently cognizant of their surroundings and the need to manually turn on their headlights while driving when it's foggy should lose all driving privileges and their vehicle should be given to jimmydean to test drive.

Maybe 1.5 cars out of 20 while I walked the DSO just. The 0.5 was an old impreza with one failed headlamp, but at least they had them turned on.
Maybe it's the old aircraft mechanic in me, but if the vehicle is in motion, the lights are on. Time of day is irrelevant.
I run lights on all the time.

Aren't you retired or something? Just extend the vacation :p

Does suck balls though.
More like ‘pre-tired’, actually.
But yeah, I wish, I come home on the 11th, and having a shoulder replacement done bright and early on the 14th. So this was going to be my birthday shred before I am incapacitated for a while.

Streaming music on YT used to be okay. Now it is a disaster. Playlist of Sleep or Carcass or Sepultura constantly interrupted with commercials of Doja Minaj rapping about her various lady bits. Now I’m getting Lady Gaga singing about whatever she sings about. Come on YouTube. Get your algorithm or algo somewhere else.

I still use it as a music locker. Nobody makes a 500 gig mp3 player anymore.

Also, as much as I hate Amazon, if you buy a physical cd from them you get a free digital copy on Amazon music.

Oh, you have no idea the communications that I have done. Many hours. They wouldn’t even give me a 1st class upgrade. I’ll tell the whole thing later, but they could give a shit. Randomly enough, the guy on the AA customer service chat was from Lima, and he knew some of my friends. He actually called me from his personal phone and email, and gave me names of who to hit up inside customer relations and media relations.
Crazy coincidence, my cousin in Costa Rica is also his union rep.
It’s a tiny world.
The dude didn’t have any authority to do anything. But I think On The Wing might enjoy the story.

I am really enjoying riding the Bridgestone as a City bike. Except for the rear rack. I prefer a backpack instead. I am hoping to never have to ride the bus to the market anymore. Rack mounts are nice. But carrying a loaded rear rack is drudgery. The rack is useful as a fender only. Nitto Bull Moose bars are nice. Super comfy. https://a.co/d/foGd92f
