Writing software for a hardware platform I have 0 experience with. Told the powers that be that I have no idea what I am doing. Got the typical non-response. Not exactly killing myself to hit the deadline, I at least think I have figured this out. Damn Germans seem to go out of their way to make shit non-intuitive.

now those are some wingdings I can get behind...

as I was walking to daycare with the boy in the chariot, I passed a car stopped at a red light blasting crazy train... thanks to the goodness of google play music, I was able to play it on my phone on the walk to work after I dropped off the boy at daycare. 4 times. I am so totally amped to get to work right now (let's see how long that lasts!)

going to pick up the fattie at lunch today and will give it a shakedown tonight while it's still cold and the trails are still frozen.

I hear you. Our MRP system is German. All the codes to query anything are in German. If you don't know the code LOL, good luck finding it.

Internet stalking sometimes isn't that bad....

Hit the ATM on the way to meeting up with the GF and a few others to go to the movies after work last night. As I was walking out the door, I saw a debit/credit card on the ground, wedged under the ATM vestibule door. Googled the name and the city I was in, and found a 65+ year old woman with the same name (middle initial and all) that lived in an apartment about 1/2 mile away. Called the number, man answered phone, asked to speak to the woman. Stated she wasn't there and asked if I wanted to leave a message. I asked if he was a relative/friend, to which he somewhat rudely snapped "Why? Who is this?"...told him I found a card with her name on it and was trying to get in touch with her to give it back. About 10 seconds of silence followed by "Rea....really? You do?" Told him what parking lot I was in, hung out for 5-10 minutes until he showed up. Gave him the card, shook his hand and went on my way.

Wasn't even late for the movie....though I did miss pre-movie beers.

Bleh, finally caught the wife's cold. This sucks

Oh yeah, actually won some cool archery stuff for cheap on eBay yesterday. Had to let the wife know stuff will be showing up in the mail and not to panic.

Isn't SAP one of the better ones? The system we use here is the most unintuitive crap ever. The worst part, is that it was written for XP. So of course now, to have the client run on a user's computer correctly, they have to be a local administrator.

The day we move to SAP, is the day that I have to stop worrying about uninstalling Ask Jeeves toolbars from people's computers.

I have a feeling I will be going to these places with Haley once she is old enough to travel to places that involve work (Machu Pucchu (sp?), touring Europe, Everest base camp. all the 14'ers, China to see the Great Wall and Xian soldiers, backpack Patagonia, hike the Pacific Crest and Appalachian Trails, New Zealand, Outback, dive the Great Barrier Reef, etc.) I think I need to stop spending money and try to get about $20-30k set aside by the time Haley is 10 and able to go do a lot of this stuff with me.

Focus in your kick, steady pace, don't raise your feet above water.
Make your body work like a planing hull (on top of water) rather than a displacement hull (pushing thru water).
You'll get there. Swimming sucks.

One of the things that I noticed making the largest effect was when I made a point to keep my head down. It flattened me out quite a bit and instead of breaking the water with my head it started to flow over. That scrubbed a min off my 500 within a week of getting used to it.

Yeah... They don't let you use those in races.
Perhaps a dolphinoplasty? Disqualification would be discrimination!

Bucket lists are a great way of being dissapointed with your life and getting down on yourself. IMO. that said, I wouldn't bother with EBC. I'd do the Annapurna Circuit instead. it's much more pretty.

Winner winner chicken dinner. I just found $5 under my desk phone.

My motivation level right now is hovering at a Westy level. I am going to JimmyDean this day and go home early.

Benedryl + beer = Thank you Tokyo! Goodnight!

Apparently both Haley and the dog crawled into bed last night. Had no idea. But I was able to sleep. Still itchy, as it wore off already.

Otherwise, started writing my bucket list of places to go. Talked/texted with a friend who has traveled the world multiple times and listed out places I wanted to go. She laid out other places that are similar or more incredible. It's a long list now. Less than 1/4 of which are in places with pretty, warm beaches, which are the only place Wifey wants to travel to. I have a feeling I will be going to these places with Haley once she is old enough to travel to places that involve work (Machu Pucchu (sp?), touring Europe, Everest base camp. all the 14'ers, China to see the Great Wall and Xian soldiers, backpack Patagonia, hike the Pacific Crest and Appalachian Trails, New Zealand, Outback, dive the Great Barrier Reef, etc.) I think I need to stop spending money and try to get about $20-30k set aside by the time Haley is 10 and able to go do a lot of this stuff with me.
ambitious bucket list for someone that's already middle aged. not to be a dick, but i'm already coming to the realization that there are things that i want to do, but likely won't be physically able to by the time i get around to them. and i'm OK with that.

Interesting. My experience with Native Instruments Maschine says they go out of their way to make software intuitive.

Morning!

Bucket lists are a great way of being dissapointed with your life and getting down on yourself. IMO. that said, I wouldn't bother with EBC. I'd do the Annapurna Circuit instead. it's much more pretty.
I think if it more as a 'what sounds interesting to do' list, as I forget a lot of cool things that seem interesting and I would like to do. Seeing Aurora Borealis in Iceland (or in general) is on my must do list. It's

Also, that looks way cooler. My concern is support. Have you seen if it's doable with Sherpa help? I'm pretty sure I'd die if I tried to pack the thing by myself (or even with friends)

I'll do some 14'ers with you. Also, don't forget the Colorado Trail, much closer to home, probably just as epic. Still a couple years off but I've been putting a lot of thought into a through hike for my 40th.

Pretty fascinating story about the CT here: http://extras.denverpost.com/long-haul/plan.html

Long read warning!
I might have to come down and do the steps with you one of these days. Probably a good start to manning up and doing the 14er's. Let's talk offline and see if we can make one happen this summer, and not Evans.
