Walked The Girls™ (our friend's GSPs), then walked The Cartel™ (our chihuahuas), then went for a short rideª in short sleeves and short... shorts (?) to get a burrito and a couple of margaritas. And now, cervesa de patio para mi, con perro. Probably gonna turn into a shower beer.

Sunday gravy??
You leave your personal life outta this.

The offgrid plan is on the back burner cause now it is hard to get a large size land without paying the covid tax. So we
are building a small semi-passive house on a 1 acre lot.
I tend to prefer the semi-passive/aggressive domiciles myself.

ª Short by @6thElement standards. Only 23 miles and 2750' of vert. But them margs eran muy delicioso!

Give it a few years and at least half those plots will be back on the market for pennies on the dollar

I seem to recall you mulling over getting a remote tract and doing something semi-offgrid...that the plan? Either way, has to be a dream come true to build a place from the ground up. I read enough cabin porn to fantasize about doing that one day.
I enjoy watching "Building off the grid" mostly to see the silly mistakes lots of them make, like starting in September in the mountains and wondering why it starts snowing on their build.

/goes off to the strava's to see what you hit

Wife and I had a good ride, but way too many mouth breathers out on the local trail as we never normally try and ride them in an afternoon at the weekend.

Patio beer interestingly turned into couch with The Cartel™ beer... I suspect this may be the situation for a hot minute until I displace these mongrels in order to achieve Shower Beer status.

Kerrygold, out on the counter in a butter dish. This is the way.
As a born-n-raised Hoosier, I can confirm this is indeed The Way®.

Is that something I hit or FT??

I like where this thread is going... lots of early talk about tools, and now we're discussing the virtues of being pantsless. It's like every downhill race I went to in the early 2000s.

Maybe that's because he's cut out most alcohol, cheese, and other unhealthy things.
Mostly alcohol of the unhealthy things. Being out over to low glycemic now that seizures are under control but my cholesterol is through the roof. Still waiting to meet with nutritionist to see changes.

Kerrygold is overrated. VT butters FTW. :nerd:
ok guy with easy access to VT butters...

and, late to the tool front, but i have a porter cable drill and impact driver and jigsaw all on the same batt system and they've been good. would look at their circular saw, etc., if/when my corded ones die or i want more convenience

Couch beer is turning to shower beer, finally. Been doing some searching here to find a "what to pack for long rides" thread that got started a bunch of years ago. Not sure why I can't find it... anyone remember it?

I have no idea where I am
I feel like you did better rsch than I have.
Went as far down the rabbit hole as I could get. At the time I was looking into tools for cabinet making that could be used in a small space. Wound up at a woodworking shop to replace the dust collector in my metals studio that died in the middle of the Christmas season. Decided to go with a Festool and said, "fuck it, gimme the saw". Got it back to the studio and was so enamored with it that the thought of blowing polishing compound through it was unbearable. Back to the woodworking shop for a Fein dust extractor for another $300. *

Sad thing is that I have had the saw for 3, maybe 4 years and all I have done with it other than make test cuts was trim some doors in the house. Which it did an amazing job of. The thing cuts so completely, ridiculously clean that edges are so sharp that they ned to be knocked down or risk splintering. Seriously, glue ready cuts.

* I have about $900 worth of dust extractors/shop vacs and none of them can vacuum a rug. Hmmpff...

¡Graçias!

Lots of good info in that thread, I think. Maybe should be moved to The Shop forum? There's been a rash of "good info threads" in there, this might/could be one of them.

As I posted in the random pic thread, today was my first ski day of the season. Hugely impressed by the conditions, great snow, mostly good coverage. Just a few bumps (I counted 3). This is a pretty technical up-track through the trees at first and it's a bitch. It was the first backcountry stuff I ever did and that day, I just wanted to quit life. I do a lot better on it now, but my buddy makes me look like an idiot when it comes to steep switchbacks. You can see that quite a few other people had the same idea, this is one of the most accessible areas with good skiing, Turnagain Pass. With the coverage this good and weather good, a lot of people got out in the last 3 days. I was thinking of doing it on Saturday, but wanted to give some of my body parts an extra day. First run down was nice, lots of great turns in the powder. 2nd up track was a bitch, we basically "made our own" a little further out and it was not good, we even sucked in some splitboarders that decided going up our track was a good idea. My hip abductors gave out on that 2nd climb about 50' elevation below my buddies, but I was done climbing. 2nd ride down was good, until we got to the fucking alders and spruce, there's not quite enough coverage to cover all the bushes and shrubs and they are a bitch. But all in all a good day and great snow. Hugely different than my first day last year, which was after it had been raining on the snowpack and just horrible snow.
