A good vice, a wide selection of sockets and a lot pf patience are all you really need. Make sure you have the grease port holes lined up when you press the bearings in.
The site had removal info for the XC rigs but the install info is not working. Mostly just wanted to see if there was any heads up info from someone who did the job.
I believe the 2002 is similar to the 2000 DHR. If it is then it's not a big deal to replace the bushings. I'd call Turner and get the bushings and the part that holds the main pivot together and do it all at once if there is play in the rear end? If there isn't don't do anything but the bushings and you don't need a vice. I also wouldn't assume you need new bushings, I'm still on my original 2001 RFX bushings and have no complaints although DH rigs see a lot more mud and grime than trail bikes do, at least if you race at Tenney they do.
Yeah, the lower pivot has a lot of play in it right now. Glad you mentioned the main pivot section part. It seems that it is the only pivot that has play in it. We have been riding at Jiminy alot ( place rocks, jumps , drops, ledges etc.).
I hope to get the parts and have this re-done by next weekend. I am done racing for the year as riding Jiminy is just way too much fun for $20.00.
If it's the main pivot then order new bushings and that custom part/pivot bolt. It's quite fancy and has a custom grease port built into it. If that doesn't solve the problem then you have to send the front triangle back to turner for new needle bearings, that's a little more expensive. The parts worked for me though. Talk to Turner and get the torque settings as well, I don't recall what they were.
