Anyone have experience with both? I know the '04 fits a bigger tire, but the '03 has internally adjustable damping and the '04 doesn't.

I'm thinking the '03 might be a better fork for my bro ('cuz I like a lot of rebound damping, but my bro is new and doesn't know what he likes yet), any '04 JrT riders have any opinions?

You can the '04 damn cheap some places online, just over $300 NEW. Used '03s aren't much cheaper.

From what I remember the internals are the same. The only differences I know of are the 04's have increased tire clearance, adjustable crowns, and the newer models use a modified version of the QR20.

I would get the 04 for tyre clearance and adjustable crowns, then upgrade it to a supert by replacing the right leg cartridge, about $100. then you would have external rebound!

or you can change the oil weight, heavier = slower.
