I'm trying to decide between the two forks... Gonna be doing moderate freeriding and hopefully quite a bit of Whistler this summer. Pros/Cons... ?

Pro: Super T works out the box.
Con: No one can make fun of you for owning a Marzocchi.

That's a good one....

I can't remember for the life of me but I wanna say the 04 Super T wasn't HSCV like the 03's. It had one SSV and one HSCV cartrige (different ones in each leg). SSV is their cheaper line of cartridge but it'll work.

The Slider has the SPV stuff, so if you're frame has a stable platform shock it might help a little. I know the crowns on the sliders have had issues with them stripping out etc.... Just little things.

I'd personally get the zocchi though. Once you feel how smooth a zocchi is there's no going back. Plus they are almost maintence free (to a point). You just change the oil every so often and you're good for a while :)

I am constantly seduced by many of the features of Manitou forks, and I have plenty of friends who have had good success with them.

On the other hand, there are a zillion first-hand accounts of problem after problem, including a review I posted from nsmb.com, where the Slider failed on the first try.

I suppose if you are willing to work out any problems, it will probably do the job. But the most important features, like the light weight and the SPV, are for trail and racing. If DH and hucks are goals, then 'Zocchi is the way.

A freind of mine took his slider up to whistler/north van last summer during some rain. He said it locked up on him twice from getting filled with mud. I can't imagine that being a trait accross the board with all of them but it seemed a little silly. He loves the way it rides though, spv and all.

I rode a Shiver for several years and while it was plush and full or great Marz. attributes I can't say enough good things about my Slider. I was blown away immediately with how much faster the Slider allowed me to be. I think the biggest imporvement was the steering. I didn't realize how much the Shiver wallowed. Furthermore I like how the SPV keeps me moving faster through rough sections. I seem to stay on top of the rocky sections insetad of getting slowed downed in them. However there is a noticable maintainence difference. The Marz. requires almost no maintainence, while Slider needs a good bit.

I have the 04 Super T. At my moderate Freeride/DH level I would say the SSV damping in the one leg is a non issue. It has never stacked up like the 03 Junior T used to do -once in a great while at higher speeds.
I love the Super T, and happy that I got it over the Slider +. Then again, I don't pedal this bike (Bullit) for miles and miles.

ive seen pics of the sliders lower legs snapping in two. not a good thing when your trying to go fast and go off huge drops. although i wouldnt think this would happen to everyone. i was personally in the same delima and i went with the zocchi. i love it. granted it has sscv but it still performs awsome i love it. 32 mm stanchions and its impervious. no quick release crap on it but also you dont have to worry with the allan screws holding the axel. so i say go with the zocchi and you also get the black stanchions wich looks pimp.good luck with your decision

I liked the chassis of my slider much better than the super. The axle design is much better and the crown bolts can be replaced with 5mm allen bolts, yet with the super you are stuck with the 4mm bolts. Granted these are minor things but worth mentioning.

ohh yeh and with the super you can also mount the stem righ to the top crown to give you extra stiffness.another great feature zocchi has.

All I can say is that I have owned Marz and Manitou DH forks, but not the specific forks you mentioned. What I canoffer is that the Marz has far less maintenance issues and that the direct mount stem makes a big difference. Manitous are horrible about sucking mud and water in.

Well, not usually, but it might be worth noting that on some bikes, like the Iron Horse SGS Freeride Pro, the "Sherman Breakout +" wasn't even a 7" fork, it didn't even have TPC.

The "breakout plus" on the SGS Pro was essentially the 03 model, the 6" TPC+. That's OEM for you.
