hi i'm getting a gimini 2000 for dhing and abit freeriding should i change the manitou breakout plus
to a 05 boxxer race or maybe a slider? or any other dc fork?
i'm in kinda tight budget so please no dorado,888,shiver.
I definately would not go to the boxxer race, I've never liked the races one bit. The slider wouldn't be worth it over the breakout IMO. Stick with the breakout for now, and if you feel its not enough, get a nice DC when you get the money, like a boxxer team, shiver, dorado or 888r.
um, my breakout plus was wayy nicer then my buddy's slider plus. his seemed to flex more. but we were trying to make them flex.
i'd take either of those anytime over that of a boxxer
On a limited budget, I would definitely stick with the Breakout. I know this isn't what you said, but I laugh when people talk about "upgrading" to a Boxxer. I only ride one because that's what my bike came with and I can't afford to get something better.
if your going to spend 640 why not get a downhill single crown fork like the 66r there suppose to be nice and im not sure how much the new foxs are but the 36 is really nice from what ive herd.
But what advantages does the slider+ give over a breakout+? I guess the extra length means a more linear spring rate, and you could go on about stiffness and confidence from dual crowns, but when it comes down to it, the Breakout+ is an awesome fork, and I wouldn't be replacing it if it were my bike, not unless there was something even more awesomeness to go on.
