Both these bikes I can get for almost the same price new. expert build kit for the IH and the enduro kit for the Yeti. i would be using these for riding local xc trails and the more epic type rides. They would need to be good for some small jumps and drops, nothing crazy. I am an expert level DHer and I ride like one even while riding xc.

the bikes are spec'ed pretty simular, hayes 9, outboard bearing cranks, same rims, and both have maxxis 2.35 tyres. yeti uses fox suspension :thumb: , truvativ, and shimano, while the IH uses 5th, Rock shox, FSA, and sram :thumb: .

frames, yeti seems like it would be lighter, geometry is very simular except head angle, yeti is 69*, IH is 70*, but not sure what length of fork that was measured with on the iron Horse, the pike is adjustable up to 140mm, it could be a bit slacker than 70* set at 140mm, this will raise the BB though. I lack slack head angles, current dh bike is a yeti dh9 with a 888 and risse crowns.

Suspension, dw-link vs low single pivot,
the 575 works good in all the reviews
the mkIII is new and redesigned, simular to the sunday which has great reviews.

weight
575- 29lbs
MKIII- ?

DW, can you give some info on why it was redesigned, and if this new version will be able to handle the same abuse as the 04, also on the head angle, what length of fork was it measured with? also a weight figure, frame and complete.

right now i am leaning toward the yeti because the head angle. I won't be getting a bike for another month, so availbility is not a concern yet.

well I don't see how you're really going to get any reliable feedback since the IH bike is an '05 model...D

At this time it would be tough to get any reliable comparisons of the MkIII. I've been riding a 7Point for the last couple of weeks and working on getting it set up just the way I like. My initial impression is that it does pedal exceptionally well, better than any other 7" bike I've ridden. I would expect the MkIII to be similar in pedaling quality.

On the other had the Yeti 575 is already a proven winner. It is light, has lots of travel for a trail bike, pedals great, has the best suspension components (IMO) and comes with nice parts on any of the kits.

If you can wait, I would. Otherwise the Yeti has already been proven an awesome bike.
