That sounds like a bet. You have one of the most severe cases of UGI (upgradeitis) I've ever diagnosed!

BTW- you got it built up yet?

Yeah but I'm medicated (credit card debt slowing me down lol) so I'm coping. My RFX only needs a fork and cranks and it's done, and the frame will be with me for a 3rd season (an endurance record for me). As for the DOC and my other projects, well that's another story!

How many people have Nicolais? How can you get better pricing? I would think for 6000-7000 they wouldn't sell many.
Well, I don't think Karl (not speaking for him, just an analogy) has a goal of selling bread and butter -cookie cutter frames. Like anything else in the world, there is a niche for every market. One of the things I like about Nicolai (and why I'm still riding Nicolai) is that he doesn't give a rat's ass (again, not speaking for him) whether this and that "would sell." He designs something bec he is driven to design something. You have to spend some time (comes with free beer btw) with him to appreciate his giddiness to do "stuff." I mean Ferrari will not mass produce, compromise, etc something to just sell, they know they have a niche market. It'd be nice to sell a lot of TST and TFR but I don't think that's the point. Regardless, I will not be able to afford any Nicolai for a long time.....-bah

Who owns a Nicolai out there and lets see some pics?

Orven,
Im just saying if the frame was more in the $3-4K range they would sell a little more. I cant see many people buying a $6-7K frame. I wonder how many TSTs they have sold. Which Nic do you ride?

All bikes are expensive but are good to ride. :)
I've owned two Lambdas and currently on an Mpire and will prolly run it again for next year as I don't see any need to upgrade.. I'm really interested in the Sunday frame though..
As for pics, I think I have some in here somewhere.

Who do you order your Nics thru? Are they a long wait?
Depending on when the order is placed and when the last production batch took place, it can be a long wait just like most boutique-custom made frame or small handmade frame manufacturers.

Off topic, one of the worst fitting frame I've been on was actually a Nicolai. It was the first generation right off the skunkwork Nucleon FR (not much cnc'd parts-which is a typical Nic prototypical trait). It was a size med with large size frame geometry. It felt weeeeeird. At the same token, it was fun to ride by virtue that I had to adopt a different riding style to make it to the bottom of the shuttle runs. The Nucleon ST, if 10 lbs lighter, would prolly mimic the ride of my Mpire. I like that Nuc ST as long as it was moving and moving real fast. :)

theres definit room to lighten the stock frame just by chucking some of those redundant brackets and bolts......

I would have bought this frame...if I knew ahead of time how expensive the G-boxx series would be....raced it at Sea Otter and it was great....

never owned the last frame....Sanjay broke it before I ever got a chance to try it...D

Were/Are you sponsored by Nic? How can you afford those frames? The G-boxx series are just plain spendy. I really like and want the TFR.

Yep for 2 years sponsored by Nicolai....would have liked to make it 3 but can't afford to be on the team even at team prices. 1st year team included me, Orven, Speedjunkie, Metal, Porkybmx, Ray(non rm member) and Matt from Hope.

2nd year team was myself, Orven, Porkybmx, Speedjunkie, Freak and Laura.

He what?! :monkey: Where did it break?

This is mine Kanter, do hope it lasts a bit longer ;) :

Btw: This pic was taken when the bike was still brand new, you can find more when you follow this link on pinkbike on page 1 & 4: http://vpfree.pinkbike.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=75731&highlight=mpire

Super heavy bike, not the fastest one when riding flat roads, doesn't pedal even with Manitou 6-way and I really don't like the horizontal drop outs, but for the rest this bike is really ultimate Top quality, handles well on fast race tracks w/ the 888R, looks the bomb and last but not least: it jumps well.
I think the M-Pire is the best looking Nicolai DH-bike in the line, heck; perhaps even of all the bikes ever made! Just take a look at those welds and if you have a Nicolai you'll notice while cleaning that you haven't paid lots of money for just another frame, but for high end quality stuff. I think that everyone who owns a Nicolai can second that, and I'll bet you all take a few hours to clean it :thumb:

I guess around 50lbs with Michelin 2.8F/2.5R; maybe not the heaviest one, but I think it just 'rides heavy' because of the tires I'm running, when you lift it up, it feels like an average DH-bike I guess..

If you look at the pic the red frame is a prototype G-boxx frame it's not an M-pire....D

I think it's ugly when people start putting dumb parts on it like big whammo tires and SDG Big Boy saddle. :)

So I get an email from Casino Bikes and the TFR frame is $5400. That is crazy. I can buy a Foes FLY and a DHS frame and put a little down on a 888 for that price. I dont see how they can sell any Nicolai G-boxx frames at the prices they are asking. I would like to know the exact number of G-boxx frames they sell in a year. It cant be many.

That's crazy.

I had my Lambda built to 43.5 lbs, and the build was all strong, yet still raceable parts. 321's, hope's, Manitou (or Boxxer), 2.5/2.7 maxxis', etc. A very strong build and a somewhat light bike for a guy with my strength.

I get my M-Pire back in 2 days. Wanna bet it's under 42lbs? ;)

Love that bike though. Soooooooo nice in black.

Here are some picts of the TFR G-BOXX. The cain and the disc rotor are on opposite sides, so you dont have to worry about chain lube on the rotor. The frames sell for $5100 without a shock. This price includes: G-BOXX and the shifting components, and the 3 piece compound rear hub.

$5100 without a shock!!!! You are completly crazy!!! I wanted a TFR ever since I saw the first few. I would really like to know how many you sell at that price. No one in their right mind would spend that much on a frame. Crazy. If it was priced better I bet you would sell more and in return make more money. Good luck I hope you sell NONE. Yes I am bitter.

The yellow one with the 66 looks really nice but holygoddamn hell that's a lot of $$$

I wonder if we'll start seeing Chrome-plated Nicolai's mounted atop H2's on MTV cribs that belong to NBA stars and rappers...
