I know this is super late notice but I wanted to remind everyone and enlighten some to the fact that the 5th annual 18 Hours on the Farm- Scouts Honor race will be held in Goochland VA on August 16 & 17th 2008. Here is the link for registration. http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6669

If you are unfamiliar with this particular race here is a quick run down: It’s one of the last few real grassroots races around that has a huge offering for a very modest entry fee. Top category winners (for certain categories) are paid out in $CASH$ while the other categories have really great prizes. You get some free useful Sock Guy “18 hour” socks instead of another white cotton race shirt, you get a huge, tasty and hearty breakfast after the race and during the awards ceremony. Coffee, water, and onsite electricity (battery charging, etc) throughout the race. Onsite camping and cabin rentals, real bathrooms (no porta johns!) and several warm (or cold) shower facilities.

The race course is 90% sweet flowy VA single track with only 2 or 3 short super fast fire road sections. The course is somewhat beginner friendly but you must keep your eyes peeled and attention on the race at hand or you will find yourself in a world of hurt. The course is also on some very beautiful land and there are two lakes that you will go by each lap. Seeing other racers lights reflect off the lake during the night portion it a very cool “must see” kind of thing.

The bottom line is that this is a great race that will leave you smiling ear to ear and make you want to come back again next year. The promoters are very cool down to earth people and aren’t in this for the money, just to have fun and put on a great race. You don’t see that very often anymore.

I hope to see you there.

Thanks Metro for you're post and discription of this race.

Hello everyone! This is Ed, race promoter for the 18hr - Scouts Honor event.

If any of you are interested in attending this event but lack a partner or team there is a webpage dedicated to finding riders for this race. Here is the direct link to that page - http://ors.cycleva.com/forms/search.html

That page is offered by the good folks at http://www.cycleva.com/ one of Richmonds MTB sites.

Hope that some of you can make this very unique Endurance event.
