Im getting my first DH rig and there are great deals on 2004 IH SGS bikes at the local distributor.

It's my first DH rig and it will be used mostly for fun as for starting university in 3 months so I probably won't have much time to race..

is a ~800$ addon for WC over TEAM worth it for my usage? and why (yes or no)..

I would say that if you are serious about riding and racing, go for the WC. If you are just gonna be messing around having fun, have no intenetion of racing, and are going off to school in three mos with not much time to ride.... use the 8 bills for books

Your face.
When we rode for IH, we all chose the Team over the WC. The differences are really slight, and weren't worth the money. IH did such a good job speccing the Team, that the upgrades on the WC were just fluff really, and didn't justify the cost.

The only changes iw ould make are the rear deraileur (Go XO), the cranks (they bend pretty easily) and the rims. WTB rims have to be about the worst rims we've ever used. The review on those will most definately not be kind.

The Bike rocks though, and yo'd be seriously hard pressed to find another that worked as well, was as fun to ride, and was as affordable.

I would also suggest the Team for a first time DHer. The frames are identical on te two, and if there are any parts you would want to upgrade, you could do that later. Yo umight find that its perfect for you as is though.

Have fun!

have you considered the Pro model? nothing wrong with the spec on there either. even better value for money and easliy up to the job of DH racing.
all I've changed on mine is the bar/stem combo to my old set (just prefer that rise/sweep etc.) and the saddle for something smaller. and chucked on a pair of lock-on grips (essential in the UK)
I bent my L/H crank first ride, but that was my fault. had to replace the whole set as 165s are unavailable over here.
will eventually upgrade the Boxxer race forks with a Mojo cart - but they're really not all that bad.

I prefer getting a bike which I can keep for about 1.5 years without spending money on upgrades later... boxxer race isn't for me.. that's the main reason that I chose IH, for the awesoe parts spec.

yeah, but with the money you save you could buy a Mojo cart and whatever else you think needs upgrading and still have change leftover.
Boxxer teams could do with upgrading too.

I disagree on the boxxer teams I think they are lush forks.

What is up with the paint on the team frame, i scratches soooo easily.

If i leave the aluminium bare from a scratch wil it degrade, if so what should i do to cover it up/ protect it?
