I figure the monkeys have alot more knowledge than the mtbn people. So, the Answer catalogue says SPV but go-ride says TPC+. Jenson also says TPC+ but all the pics of forks i see say SPV Evovle on them. I'm confused  . Oh, and does anyone know what fork the 67.5* headangle of the 05 V-10 was measured with. Thanks.

Its SPV evolve, a more compliant version of the damping. It will have better small bump sensitivity. Thats straight from an Answer rep.

SPV evolve is almost exaclty the same as SPV but a hole somewhere is made larger to allow a bit of oil to flow backward through the cartridge to make it feel a bit more plush on smallish impacts. Any 04 fork can have a mod done to turn it into SPV "evolve".

This is what i was told from a local rep. There was a more technical explination than this but i have forgotten it all.

It is all marketing BS. Manitou should be saying "We made the hole too small so the forks felt harsh on small impacts but now it is fixed", but instead they say "we have redeveloped a new SPV cartridge called SPV evolve". Whatever.....

Hmm, i have SPV Evolve in my '05 Minute 2 and i know its a huge improvement over normal/'04 SPV. I may just go for the Dorado to put on my new V-10.

according to the manitou tech guy i met on eurobike and that customer service guy they changed a bit more then just making a hole bigger.
still i agree this is the most significant change regarding plushness and small bump sensivity.

any ideas as to this mod being done for increasing the oil refresh rate a-la-boxxer-romic-mod, or to increase oil flow on the compression stroke a-la-junior-t-wrist-saver-mod?

Hopefully the forks feel good. I'll prob wait till some gets some real time on SPV Evolve before i make my decision though.

I had this mod done to my 04 Breakout+ at Durango. The difference is very noticable, the fork is now super plush on smaller low speed stuff. I always liked the mid to high speed performance of the fork but it was harsh a slower speeds. Now it is very nice all the time, I would recomend anyone with an 04 spv fork have this work done.

So you think the SPV Evolve feels alot better than the 04 stuff? I'd love to hear a detailed review as i might EP a Dorado MRD X-Works soon.

Yeah the inside guy told me that it wat TPC but then we get the cataloge and it says SPV evolve.Evolve does feel a good bit better so maybe they decided to go with it after all.
We'll never know for sure til they actually make/ship them...

Yea i believe it was a last minute call to put SPV Evolve in them. Also, these forks are dammmmmn expensive even EP.

Anyone have more details on how to mod the '04s ?
I just got one.
i don't know what the mods exactly do, the only info i have is, that the parts for the mods will be available shortly after interbike.

so i suggest to give Manitous Customer service a call as soon as interbike is over.

i have the coil minute 1, 2005 model w/ SPV evolve on my XC bike and it is treating me right. pretty easy to set it up so that it's plush on the little stuff, doesn't bob too much when you stand up to sprint, and the damping on the higher speed / bigger hits is good. since i don't have a direct comparison, it's hard to say for certain, but it appears to be reducing brake dive. so all in all it's living up to the hype.

i had avoided SPV during the first year 'cos i wanted manitou to work out the design a bit more. i asked if the 2004 SPV could be easily modified (i.e. just drill the hole a bit bigger) and they said there was more too it than that. however i get the feeling that enlarging the hole would make it pretty near to the 2005 evolve feel on the trail.
