Can anybody tell what shock that is?
I see a "5th" on there. So I'd take a shot in teh darm and say it is a Progressive :thumb:

That is a hot bike. NOtice the rear derailleur. Specialized still sayignno to Rapid Rise. I like it :p

I thought that progressive's shocks had red w/ white graphics??? It does look like the shape of a 5th air shock though.

Rapid rise is sure to show up on the lesser level model with XT components though.

I must say I like the aesthetics of the current crop better. I couldn't be more happy with my '04. For me it's a great combination of travel, lightweight (~32 lbs with a Sherman Firefly) and versatility.

Anyone else notice how long the stroke on that rear shock looks? My guess would be at least 2.25" if not 2.5". I'm running a 5th Air on my 04 and it made a HUGE difference in the ride characteristics.

Defienetly looks like a 5th, if that's true, I wonder how Fox feels about that having all that proprietary shock stuff with Specialized. Though...I guess the Demo 9s had Swingers this year.

The honeymoon's over. The itch switch becomes available to non specialized worlds this year.

yeh im with you acadian.and to me it looks like it is croped back a little far. i know there supposed to have brought in looks from freeride and dh bikes but that just looks rediculous.it seems like it would loose alot of its climbing ability. does anybody elses enduro look that cropped back. or maybee its just the new 36 fork       up front or maybee im exagerating. and the shock does look like a new progressive. so maybee there trying a new color scheme. but man that thing does look sick and i really wanted an 04 cause you get the best of both worlds. :thumb:

i think it's the new 5th element 'gravity' series of air shocks that i read about in a mag recently. they come in long stroke and i2i sizes, and i think the eyelet bushings are different than the breakage-prone ones on the ultralight XC version of the shock.

Anyone else get the feeling that bike has more than 5" of rear wheel travel? That is a long stroke shock on there!

Things I like:
1, lowered center of gravity
2, more seat height range
3, offset chainstays will help some clearance issues
4, MORE TRAVEL BABY!
5, 5th element air should pedal damn well
6, minimalistic, bet its pretty light(ish)

Things I don't like:
It ain't as purdy as the previous bike

All in all I like it. It ain't a beauty contest winner, but it'll deliver the goods on the mountain. Hmm, sounds like a lot of mountain bikers I know :p

mmm... Enduro. The whole line of bikes is very Demo-esque this year. The Rockhoppers are even way beefier, with manipulated tubes.

holy skyscraper-BB....

Guess that's what happens with a tall fork and all...at least it can be knocked down, but that BB is still on the high side...

Anyway, I liked the mono better too :D

And for those of you wondering why you can't buy a fox 36, that bike is the reason...OEM obligations first :D Talked with my fox buddies a few days ago.

It's not the enduro but a new bike betweenn the big hit and the enduro. On the pics, it's the s-works, the other will have manitou fork . The enduro stay the same but all will have the brain technologie.
It's a Specialized dealer who say that.

No, it will be a good deal taller than a 5 spot, a yeti 575 or my fxr. It looks like they've sacrificed the geometry, and the new 5-spot is starting to look like an ellsworth Id in terms of geometry. The ID is a freak of nature with a 15" bottom bracket.

What "new 5-spot"?? I'm on the Turner board everyday and haven't heard of a new geometry. Or did you mean new Enduro or whatever the bike in this thread is?

Between a rock and a hard place.
The following is a conjecture free zone:

It is an Enduro.
Shock: Proprietary version of the 5th Element Gravity. Custom tuned for the Enduro in volume, damping, and IFP performance.
Fork: Fox 36 with custom valving.

Still an FSR, just a different configuration.
Much more liberal use of cold-forgings.
S-Works Enduro frame/shock is the same weight as last years S-Works frame/shock
Vastly improved CG
6" travel f/r
There are some other very interesting models within the Enduro line.

It's called "6-pack". To fill the gap between the 5-spot and highline...

I think it's beautiful. Takes a lot of styling cues from the newest Stumpjumper.

BB is high but not skyscraper for a 6" travel bike. I'd peg it at around 13.5" strictly from a cursory glance at the picture...
