anybody out there have a good comparison of performance of the '05 888rc vs the 888vf. im getting one of them soon, and need to know if there is a huge difference in performance, especially if all i usually need is rebound control. is it worth the extra $$$ to get another adjustment that i probably wont use more than once? any difference is feel, etc? thanks for any help :help:

:stupid: You don't want VF or SSVF or anything that is that high caliber of a fork. Get the RC. I've watched my buddy's back in the day pickup Junior T's thinking they were so good when for a couple hundred more you get a fork you can tune everything.

I have the RC on my Fly and love it. I road my buddys VF and it felt terrible. I mean it was so bad I couldn't believe it. He says he cant tell the difference but man I could. Another guy in my crew road both our bike and agreed that the VF was terrible. Get the RC.

Another vote for the RC. I had a Jr.T and I thought it was a pretty good fork....until I used it for pure DH. Over 15 mph, you should wear wrist braces with an SSV/SSVF fork. I have a Shiver now and it's 10x better for DH type riding.

It's the same as last year, the 888R, or the 888RR. As in the RR being the piece of shat. The 888R having HSCV in both legs, and the 888RR having HSCV in one leg, with SSV in the other. For this year, the best 888 is the same as the old RR, then VF or whatever has dual SSV. Get the one with HSCV, it makes a world of difference.

I agree with everything said, the differences are much more than rebound and compression. The forks have a totally different feel. The rc will soak up bumps as fast as you can ride, the vf will won't work on anything over 5mph. It's definitely worth the extra cash for the better damping.
