I wonder how the Racer's Edge series is going to work around the Snowshoe series, I know for some people making the long haul to some of these mtns is hard to do when its weekend after weekend.

Mass. is nice, no jumps/drops but a few off camber tech sections.

I spoke with Mike Hartlove yesterday about the 2006 series. He has a number of interesting events in the works that should be defined hopefully by late January.

I would expect a 4 race series.... Mike Calfo is hard at work securing prizes.

By not technical at all, he means not VERY technical. There are a few spots that can get tricky, its by no means a breeze down the course.

And be careful coming into the final rock garden, there is a tree right in the middle that is always spray-painted orange, but someone always seriously effs themselves up on it!

Two years ago Robert hit it and bounced across the trail into another tree. It was not good times

I never could decide which line was faster in that section....to the inside of the tree (left) or the outside (right)

It doesnt really matter to me which i think is faster, because whatever way I take in my practice runs, somthing happens right before the rock garden, and I end up going the opposite way in my race run.

And if I remember correctly, if you go to the inside, your wheels stay on the ground/rocks, and if you go to the outside there is that one lip to launch off of. Kind of a catch 22. If you take the inside, your wheels stay on the ground so you can keep up your momentum and pedaling (if you are pedaling there) but you have the possibility of hitting somthing wrong and falling off to the side. I've seen that, and its NOT pretty! If you take the outside, you air over a lot of it which slows you down a bit, but, you are over a lot of the bottom of the garden, and less chance for a screw up.

That is just from my poor memory and what I have experianced. It may be the opposite of that, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been pretty lucky with that tree, except for one practice when I slammed into it head on with my front wheel and came to a complete stop. I couldn't have hit it more square on if I tried!

I have no idea as to why, but when I raced Mass last year I had nothing but issues. I ate it going down that first dirt section into the first rock garden with the table rock entrance, no idea as to how that happened. Trail sniper maybe.

Then I did it again in the trees. Just wasn't my day. I think driving 19 hours with a messed up wrist and two busted ribs, jumping on the bike without walking the course or warming up might of had something to do with it. I was rad that day.

Took the outside and was proud of myself for making it to the bottom but just before i got down the slope at the end i hit a rock and got launched over my handle bars.

Its a very fun course.

during my practice run at mass. (remember this is my first race) I got into the first corner right before you enter the woods, and my tires just aren't hooking up so I go flying off the side into these sharp rocks that are like 2 feet in diamter. I thought it was going to hurt a lot more than it did. It was funny because it was in front of all the people walking their bikes up the hill.

Its amazing how many people lose it there. I've seen at least 10 a race!

This is from the Racesedgeonline website; It's about the MAC race #2, what do you think? I think this is going to be awesome, a chance to have 2 races in 2 days

The second event is slated to take place at Whitetail Mountain Resort, June 23-25. This will be a three-day event and is the first and only chance to ride at Whitetail in almost six years. The Capital Cup will consist of a “Dual” event as well as downhill. The downhill format will be unique in that we plan to race one course on Saturday afternoon and another course on Sunday afternoon. The champions will be determined by combined time. This format is not absolute and we would like to hear your input, please feel free to email us at theracersedge@comcast.net.
