Who's placing what bets on who? I'm pulling for Vino, but with the new course, Jan definitely has the advantage over the field.

I think Vineokoruv ( sp? ) now that he has a team that will work for him. ( and Not Ulrich)
Hahahah - that's why everyone just calls him Vino; nobody can remember how to spell his name!

Vino is a strong dude but kind of showed his weakness being the steeper mountain roads. I'd love to see him improve and fight for th win next year but right now my money is on Basso.

Basso as long as he doesnt blow up in the Giro.
If vino can get into form and be a GC he'll be top 5 as will Ullrich
mancabo and RASMUSSEN should also place well if on form.

i would of course like to the the americans go GC but i dont believe any of them can match basso. but look for lots of american's in the top 20.

aslo if MOREAU can have a technically good race i see him in the top 5 also.
No. I placed him in my top 5 a few years ago and he blew it so I'm against him :)

i know i know but for some reason i like him even though he's french. i've watched 2003 and 2004 and he just makes a bad decision or gets stuck out one moment and that's it he's lost too much time to make up.

I used to think that Iban Mayo would do something every year. But for one reason or another, he would blow it. I think there are no surprises in the Tour, unless someone gets knocked out because something freakish, like an accident.

Jan Ullrich will be second.
there are several with legitimate shots Basso, Vino, Rassmussen, Landis. It's hard to say..Vino seems too bloody minded..he wants to race every stage like it's a one day race. Rass is pretty green.

Jan is doing the Giro this year too, but mostly for the training. Basso will be out to win it though.
I'd love to see Vino be a threat, but part of my heart just loves Beloki. He was like our little adopted guy at my last company, so I still root for him, even though his "climbing at the front days" are probably over.
Call me crazy, but I would like to see Ulle take at least one more, to show everyone that he really was the next best guy, hopefully he can find and keep the focus next year. It'll be a good one for sure!
Though this year I'm obligated to root for Credit Agricole...

Ullrich has been training like a dog, and he is only 32 years old. I think he will be ready this year to take another TdF crown.

All kidding aside, I'd like to see Jan win the 2006 TDF, he has a year or two left, and there are still only a handful of riders capable of beating him. I'd also like to see a miracle comeback by Beloki, but I don't think it's likely.

Basso or another CSC skank...they have a number of contenders, Julich, Voigt, hell, if Zabriskie could bust out the climbing skills...

I'd like to see Basso win, but he's gotta keep up on the flats on the way out to the Alps, and not lose time to Ulrich in the TTs. Who knows. . .maybe Jan's still got one more in him. . .

I think Ulrich for a win (and the ultimate come back from a long strech of not winning) but I'm more interested in Rasmussen. I hope he holds it together and can be a contender. He hands down had the worst time trial performance last year. I was a bit bummed he didn't move to a team that would back a possible GC conteder being as his team is more for stage wins and special jerseys. I really want to see a former mountain biker make the podium.
