It not that new. Syntance has been pushing it for around a year. Though I dont see why a 135x12 is not enough.
trek, turners, and I think a few others are also on board.

pretty much everybody has adapters if you want to run 135x12, but the idea is that it slots/drops in like a qr, but works like a through axle. I don't see why people are so opposed to easier/faster and stiffer. particularly when high end hubs can pretty much all be adapted to it.

While standing in the Whistler lift line yesterday, I laid my eyes upon a very curvy and sleek looking carbon demo. Looked to be the same design as the 2011 model - minus the welds.

I've been running the 12x142 on my Tracer2 this year. I don't notice any difference vs the 12x135 Maxle I had last year on my Reign X other than the 12x142 DT Skewer stays tight for longer periods of time vs the Maxle. A lot of hubs seem to adapt to 142mm easily with spacers....

Whats the go with the Specialized Status? Just saw pics of one over at Vital. I hadn't heard anything about it until now. Demo replacement or just a cheaper alternative?

Big Hit replacement, 1.5 HT, 135mm rear hub spacing, 73mm BB, 65* HA/14" BB, 8" travel that's more linear than the Big Hit was.

Two models:
1- X-Fusion Vengeance R170mm coil front, Vector R rear ($2200 complete)
2- Domain DC R, Van RC rear ($2600 complete)

There's mention of a frame-only "available in some markets" w/ a Van RC, but the dealer I checked with couldn't confirm that would be available to him... not sure where it would be available (what market they're referring to...).

Sicklines has a good feature:

w/ vid:

Would fit my budget... but really just want a frameset.
