Good article and I agree with most of it. I will say the NFL Red Zone makes watching football much more enjoyable.
I disagree that MMA will replace the NFL. If anything, if the football starts to fade, you'll see kids get funneled into basketball and baseball more. And if the USA ever decides to actually care about soccer, we'll be among the best in the world like we are with every other sport in which we actually try.
I feel that MMA is just like boxing in that it will go through spurts of popularity. People watch and pay for the big events and then no one really cares about it the rest of the year.

Soccer is slowly but steadily gaining in viewership in the US (I'm a soccer fan and have had this discussion many times). The main contributing factor to it gaining popularity here is several major network television stations actually showing games in the past few years plus the US Women's team winning their third World Cup title in 2015. Even though the Premier League still gets more air time than the MLS in the US (which is a bit backwards in my opinion), it still gets people interested in the sport. In a way it's the world sport since it's played in pretty much every country around the world. I know it's probably true that soccer will never be as big in the US as Football/Baseball/Hockey but at least it's getting some recognition that it deserves from Americans.

NFL is gonna start more of a decline IMO. i used to be into it, now i'm "meh". i'll try and catch a steelers game if my schedule allows, but i by no means go out of my way. i don't see it going away, at least not in the reasonable future.

and agreed that MMA won't take over. sure it's gaining in popularity, but it's never gonna take over the NFL or anything along those lines. soccer is becoming more popular, but dunno if it'll be as big.

everyones favorite coach got fired.
You need to include more info in your posts. Instantly I thought that Rex Ryan was the one who was fired. But no, he's still employed.

Got my hopes up just for the Buffalo Bills to let me down... again.

Finally the Rams did something good this season! I'm not big on the whole "Fire the coach!" thing, but Jeff Fisher needed to go. Knowing my luck, they'll hire Lane Kiffin.
I bet the Brown's are excited that they have the opportunity to pick up a coach with a .350 record.

well gee this is a shocker...NOT

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to make sweeping changes, dismissing both head coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke, according to league sources.

Meetings are expected to occur as early as postgame Sunday
As much as I'd like to see the 49ers struggle in futility, Chip Kelly needs to go. He is not an NFL head coach.

And LOL at the Bills. Dude, you have to pick up those kickoffs.

NFL coaches typically have guaranteed contracts. Getting fired means they still get paid, but just don't have to work for it. Pulling such a stunt would allow owners to claim breach of contract and end payment, not to mention losing the chance at another multi million dollar guaranteed contact.
