Age cut offs are based on the age you are at the start of the year and you stay in that age cat all year rather than move up on your birthday.
ie. if you're 17 at the start of the year you're a Jnr. If you turn 18 you'd not move up until the following year

I was at Worlds in '95 and I remember ACC's little fit. She was sulking on the podium, and almost didn't attend the ceremony, IIRC. (There was also an h-ball retirement party there, which my friends and I "snuck" into and drank lots of beer and ate lots of pizza).
Gary - I don't think that's how USA Cycling handles ages. I think it's the age as of Dec. 31 of the current year. In other words, if you're 19 at any point in a calendar year, you're a senior. Can anyone confirm?

in other news........ confirmed today that YT US ops / distribution will no longer be handled by Cam Zink, but he will still be sponsored by them for riding.

It's a UCI rule so British cycling's ruling is the same as USA Cycling's, French Cycling... etc. etc.
