Is the new air spring a worthy upgrade for these things. Stole my sons 2020 40 and gave him my coil boxxer seeing he barely rides.
Find the fork rides lowish if I get a good air pressure that balances comfort/support. Got the grip1 damper. I run 3 tokens as 4 was too much that was in it.

Get rid of the tokens if you want it to run higher in the travel at the start.

Spoke with the shop that supposedly is a fox specialist suspension local to me about what can they do for a 40 grip1 damper modification rather than a grip2 drop-in damper at plus 1000aud then additional tuning.
Said grip1 isnt really worth tuning as its too costly to do mods on and the 2 is amazing and better than the rc2. Contrary to lots i read here.
Im dubious and seeking some advice. Not wanting to spend 1000 plus on the fork.

I recently 3d printed some negative volume spacer for a fork to let it ride higher in it's travel with a low springrate at sag. Seemed to work well.
But with that said, it's for XC. I prefer higher spring rates for steeper trails.

grip 2 non vvc compression mechanism is the same as your grip 1 but with adjustable lsc
its a supportive damper that is kind of harsh

grip 2 vvc, is noobs wet dream, no compression damping at all.

Thats what i thought. Is the rebound circuit the same as 2 non vvc apart from external adjuster?
suspension shop when i said the comp adjuster on top is is a preload on high speed, he said no its a low speed adjuster. At that point i was mentally checked out.

edit- ive now read a previous post of yours, was informative.

I'm curious about the 2020 air spring differences relative to current for the 40 also. Haven't seen any measured force curves for both.
