I am anxious whether the 2020 D candidate will be left or center. Too far left and you again alienate moderates. Too far to the center and you invite the Berners to divide the party and repeat 2016.

i do not think he is left enough to win...........the democratic nomination.....
I agree. He's about as milquetoast, generic, neo-liberal, as they come. I mean, if he's the Democratic candidate in 2020, I'll vote for him, but I'm not knocking doors for him in the lead up. If the democrats run another bland centrist they will lose in 2020.

And then there is this. Not great optics right now.

Elizabeth Warren is without a doubt one of my favorite liberal lawmakers and is most effective at her job. However she lacks that certain element that would make her electable. If she were to get the Dem nomination it would insure another win for Donnie Two Scoops.
Inclined to agree. I actually have the same fear with Bernie. While they both have almost rain-man like ability to stick to a message, I'm mildly concerned that "message" isn't enough, something that both Bernie and Warren excel at. It's going to be about the ability to make President Juggalo like like the buffoon that he is, publicly and often. Best case scenario in this regard is probably Jolt'n Joe Biden or Beto.

Once again, she is excellent, but 'not someone I would want to have a beer with'.
IMHO that's a qualifier. People who would drink with me shouldn't be dog catcher, never mind President.

beto is lumped in that same group. Beto, Bernie, and Sanders will all likely hand trumposaurus another 4 years. As was clear two-ish years ago, you've got to win over wisconsin and Michigan, not New York and massabeachuts. People on the internet want medicare for all...do voters? I know I don't want free college for everybody, but I certainly don't want a wall and isolated children either.

I think the best case is likely going to be biden, but he's just so joe biden.

Beto ran on a pretty progressive platform and damn near beat Ted Cruz, in Texas. There may be an argument about whether or not that had more to do with policy, or the fact that Ted Cruz is a totally human candidate, but I don't think Beto falls into the same category of fire breathing liberal as Warren, Sanders, or Cortez by any stretch .

Pretty sure that's why Biden is the best choice to run against Trump, actually. The debates would be amazing.

Most of what I read suggested Beto could have had a chance if he ran on a real platform relevant to Texas and not a "free healthcare for everybody" thing . I don't know that he has anything of value for the rest of us normies

Front Range, dude...
The big issue facing the Dems and the Left is simply finding someone that the lying liars cannot make up more lies about that the mouth breathers would buy off on. Warren would get shredded simply because of the Pocahontas thing, Beto on his alleged Hispanic-osity, Harris on her California Liberal background, Bernie on his crankiness and his Dem come lately background etc etc.

Trumpo the Clown still has his base, although it is eroding like the shoreline at Mar-A-Lardo. The biggest question in my mind is will the Republicans allow him to run again (If he isnt in jail...) and how will his fat ass bow out somewhat gracefully in order to allow him to preserve his ego?

I look like Castro, Ojeda or Delaney? Either way, I think I hate you now...or I need to grow my hair back.
Ojeda. I mean, only in so much that he's a carer military guy who also happens to be amazingly hippie-ish.

and she has already apologized for thinking the wrong thoughts in her youth....
Left-wing purity police are going to be the democrats biggest problem and will definitely be exploited by the right/russia come election time.

I can dig it...I think Ojeda is my early leader for the 2020...

I know I was bitching about "purity police" in that very post that you quoted, but Ojeda voted for Trump. I recognize that there are no perfect candidates and I'm willing to overlook certain policy positions that I might disagree with in the name of political expediency, but that shit shows a lapse of judgment that I think disqualifies a person from being dog catcher, never mind president.

wake me when any announced candidates pledges to tear down existing wall when elected.
