That sucks, although I wouldn't have bet on him, That Val Di sole track would have been his best shot.

As pointed out on the Vital thread on this; if his team mate Neko had to go through the petition process, how come Gwin had no idea he had to as well? Not to put the blame on Neko, but surely at some point he looked at the forms he’s filing and thought ‘hang on, my teammate doesn’t fit the criteria for an automatic place, maybe I should see what he’s up to with this’.
Weird stuff all round

Or maybe his team manager/owner, AKA, Aaron Gwin should’ve been aware of the process to begin with?

Yeah poor wording, I just don’t understand the team dynamic there that allowed that to happen. It’s Gwin who should be taking responsibility though, not Neko.

Sounds like a team in need of a manager.

The mechanic probably submitted the wrong form

Gwin now out from World Champs with his injured back.

Maybe it didn't sign a letter of intent.

Gee whiz. I feel attacked.

For real though. I think it looks terrible. Hopefully the pictures are deceiving and I’ll eat my words.
based on some of the responses when vital posted it to FB, you'd think snowshoe removed every single rock from the rest of the track and killed greg minnaar with them.

yea, i'd rather it not be there, but i have better things to do with my time than lose my shit over it.

Seeing how close the race was in 2019, it would be a crime for a world cup race, or even a series overall, to be decided by that stupid wooden feature 20 feet from the finish.
Whoever came up with the idea for the "moonbooter" at Snowshoe, which nobody actually jumped in their race run, doubled down with this garbage.

They could have buried a 50 yard long stretch of boulders. Instead we got this, which I guess is better than a container drop to spinning out.

Had to check out said feature. That's the stupidest thing I've seen for a DH track. I would like to say it's a work in progress but it looks shit so far.

to ebike enduro racing this time, maybe.
At the risk of being accused of "not caring about enduro" like a certain grumpy Scottish monkey, I wonder if the EWS has added much more XC flat & uphill portions to the timed sections so that DH specialist (who aren't super fit) can't dominate anymore. Obviously Sam was plenty fit over the past few seasons, but now you have to be Nino Schurter fit and have preternatural DH skills, and this was just a bridge too far for him. Well that and he's pretty old now (and being a dad automatically makes you 20% slower). Maybe our resident EWS expert @toodles can chime in about the timed sections this season compared to previous seasons. I may be making it up, but every time I watch a new Jesse Marmalade POV race run it seems like he's raging up a hill for 5 minutes in-between DH sections.

If so, the two DH specialists sitting at the top of the standings seem to have adapted nicely.

I rode a real E MTB over the weekend, it was pretty cool. I don't see myself getting one anytime soon. It's a lot of money and I need all the exercise I can get.
I don't understand how it's considered a sport when you race one.

Yeah, I figured someone would bring up Jack, but I think he's the rare Schurter/Minnaar combo I was alluding to. Is Rude considered a DH specialist? I may be splitting hairs at this point, but I wasn't aware he ever was that successful at WC DH (although to be fair Yeti hasn't has a proper DH bike in eons so there's that). Regardless, my belabored theory (which admittedly is based on the same research techniques anti-vaxxers use) is that the timed sections have moar ENDUROnce in them now and Sam's like "yeah, yeah no...bring me that there e-sled"
