What stuff is everyone going to bring? I was thinking about buying a camp stove for but figured if someone is already going to have one it doesn't make that much sense. I will have two halogen light systems available for people to borrow.

We should have the cooking systems covered. Ghostrider has a camp stove, and the tent trailers have inside cooking setups and a double burner that mounts outside as well. I've got three easy up canopies lined up...I figured to have one as a lounge/bar area, another for a work/cleaning station, and the third for food/water supplies. We'll bring tarps to put up as walls on em, (depending on conditions) and park the trailers in a circle to help block the wind. Also covered is firewood, firepit, bike tools, bottled water, folding tables and chairs. We have two generators for 110 power. Basically those traveling from the east should plan to bring personal camping gear (maybe a sleeping bag and such) bike spares and parts, lights etc. We can cover the big items. We are planning to tow out the trailers, and have just a few details to work out with regard to tow vehicles, and will be trying to set the bunking arrangements when that is done. If someone doesn't want to share a trailer, we can probably come up with a tent or two.

P.S. We are also bringing a whole lotta whoop-ass for you east coast monkies, so don't forget the bottles 'o booze.....

Maybe those coming from the east could post what they would prefer/accept for accomodations. Then we can get an idea of how many tent trailers, RVs, tents and beer coolers are required.

Treesaw, what did you and your man have planned for getting from the airport to the race venue? We'll all be too drunk to come pick you up by that time of the day.

In other news, chicken hawk's brother in law is 100% in for the drinking team. Treesaw, he has all of your info, but he's out of town until the 23rd, so he will send you the check and form after that. That just leaves Korona Kalvin, and T-Dog is working hard on him.

Excellent....can you get them both waivers to sign and postmark by the 27th? Otherwise they have to pay a penalty. I just sent an e-mail to Teri and James with the link. Also, I think they have to register by the 27th online too so the sooner I get their info. the better.

Squirrell & I are trying to figure out how to get from the airport to the race venue...we'll keep you posted.

Excellent....my light has been acting up lately :mumble: and I don't think I will be able to get a new one before the race.

We're very flexible with the accomodations and will, of course, require beer cooler space :D I believe we'll both have a sleeping bag/pillow/blankets packed as well.

One light to TreeSaw, one left. When and where are you guys flying into? I have not bought my tickets yet, if it looks like we will be there around the same time we should split a ride. I am thinking about using my frequent flyer miles to rent a minivan for the weekend.

Well me, Gee Spot, and Douglas are flying into Oxnard CA on Monday the 14th, then I think we're driving to Tucson on Thursday morning. Treesaw and Squirrel are flying into Tucson on Thursday night I think... lemme check back through the thread, I think it's in here somewhere

One option would be for those arriving by plane into Tucson to rent a motorhome and drive it out to the site, thus providing transpo and lodging. However the arrival time might be a little late for that. (I believe there is a link or info for the RV rentals on the Pueblo website) Our plan was to drive out thursday morning....and return to Cal. on tuesday. So even if we pick youse up on thursday, you'll still need lodging and wheels for a day or so.

That's not a bad idea. We wouldn't have too much trouble blocking off room for an RV. I'll talk to Gee Spot about it and see if we can work out the costs. The Old Pueblo site is firewalled here, what's the phone/website of the place we are supposed to call for RV's?

We rented one from them the 1st year we did the race. It worked out great for four people. I don't know what the chances are that you could pick it up at 7:30pm, though. So, here's ghostrider's expert advice:

Westy sets up his itinerary to arrive early enough to pick up the RV on Thursday. Then, Westy drives the RV to the supermarket and buys beer. Then, Westy drives the RV back to the airport and parks. Then, Westy starts drinking the beer and watching TV while he waits for Treesaw to arrive. Whoever is sober at that point drives the RV out to the race.

I like the plan but I have to work Thursday so I won't be getting in until late.

AWESOME....note to self: bring Westy a thank you surprise :D
We're arriving in Tucson at 7:30pm on Thursday and heading out the following Wednesday morning around 7:50am (if they ever stop changing our flight times :mumble: ) We aren't sure about wheels yet, but keep us in mind.

I have my Superlight torn down trying to get it cleaned and fixed up for the trip out west. What is the soil like for old pueblo, sandy or some finer crap. If it is sandy I'm thinking about shoding the old girl in pythons, if mud is a possiblility I'll have her wearing something a little more worthy.

Who is going to do the first lap for the East Coast team? I would not mind going first but if Squirrel is going to be riding flats again he may be the best option.

Also I have started building the Ridemonkey Cup. So far it consists of a custom gold like plated pine panel base with a trashed Fox fork upper body. Seeing as though Echo is going to be the first holder of the cup, would you like any other features added??

I am having same tire debate. I will probably try to pack a set of both just in case. Squirrel doesn't ride flats...TIME all the way for him. I will ask him if he wants to do the start thing again and let you know. I doubt that he will care...he's nice like that :P

Awesome work on the RM cup...I can't wait to see this thing!

Whoops my mistake. I just remember someone at Dalton started because they were riding flats and had better shoes for the run.

Instead of going on my daily 80 mile ride :D I decided to finish up the RideMonkey Cup.

Americas Cup, the Stanly Cup all now pale in comparison.

Nice job! Stay home frome those training rides more often........hows about a way to open beer bottles with it? (form AND function!)

Great idea!

Keep the ideas coming, preferably keeping costs down to nothing.

I think every member of each team should mail something to Westy to glue to the Cup. It has to be small and easy to attach. Of course this would require Westy to buy some glue. Or zip ties :D

I think Squirrel's shoes are the type that look sorta like normal shoes but have clips as well.

Happy New Year all you monkies! Let this strike some fear into your hearts:
My resolution is to actually stop drinking and start training. I just need to finish up all this alcohol around here so I don't have to worry about it any more. Cheers!

Curse all this rain! It is taking away the one advantage we had over the east coasties. They are still going down, but we probably won't lap them three or four times like we planned.

We need to determine if Westy and Treesaw are picking up an RV on their way to the desert. Too bad I'm too dumb to figure out how to do a conference call

I'm concerned that there isn't any ground left to freeze at this point. T-dog should go take a pic of that riverbed we were riding when you were here. It looks a little different these days.

Hopefully casa de ghostrider faired a little better! I'll be back in Chatsworth for my latest porn flick on the 17th. If I can get the Superlight back together before then would it even be worth bringing?
