I'm trying to help a friend of mine find some decent XC tires for his daughters bike. She's not big enough to ride 26" yet, but is out hammering with a 24" wheelset. The only 24" tires we've found are either BMX/street type or 2.5" DH tires that weigh 1200 grams. Anyone know of a XC tire that comes in a 24?

You can also just get BMX cruiser tires, like Tioga Comp IIIs, which work well enough on trails. I'd avoid the street bmx tires, like you said...

I agree with MikeD about the Tioga 24inch cruiser Comp III tires.
Sometimes I ride 10 mile XC laps on my 24inch bmx cruiser w/ rigid fork.
Riders laugh at me until they get dropped rock and roll.
As long as I'm standing they are in for a hell of a chase especially once the trail turns super flow, tight and twisty.
The Tioga 24inch cruiser bmx tires work great on trails.
I have the comp III's. No real knobs but plenty of grip in the dirt.
they are narrow, like a 1.8 maybe less but they really hook up!
no flats yet which is good cause I dont carry around bmx wheel removal tools with me.
