I have a specialized bighit so I can only run 24" rear tires. This summer I ran a Maxxis High Roller 24x2.7" normal compound. The tire was good, I didn't have any flats (running thick and heavy DH tube) but the whole setup was very heavy.

What DH tires are available for 24" rims?

I ride on loose stone, and dust over hardpack conditions. I would like to save some weight this year, so any lighter options would be appreciated. I am also thinking going tubeless. Will ghetto tubeless or Stan's work for my 24" rear wheel?

I've been running the primebite "slow react" 2.75
Ran one for most of a year until I tore a chunk out of the sidewall (my fault). Stuck a cardboard and duct tape boot on the inside and ran it until it died of old age. Liked it enough to buy another. ( they've treated me well. )

Beefy punk rock tires.

Intense tires are cool too, but I tore all the side knobs off a 909 2.5 FRO. Good un-pinch-flatable action if i could afford to replace it. Heavy though.

try a narrower rear tire and the tubeless setup, ghetto should work fine. check out the tire weights and find something lighter.

was never a fan of kenda, maxxis makes some good light tires. or just stay with nokian or arrow for durability.
i run nokian, arrow, and maxxis tubeless on all my bikes.
never had a good time with kenda or irc.

They make the highroller in a 2.5 now which is about 200 grams(1/2lb)lighter then the 2.7.
The Kendas are similar weight of the Maxxis and are sticky rubber(that rules).
The Arrow Slow React 2.7 is a very good tire but is heavier than the Maxxis you have been running.they also make the 2.1 Bite but it is small! It is light and it rips on the rear though.
The Swamp Thing from Maxxis is availble in 24 now(saw them oddly enough on a Stinky 24 i think, don't know what compound they were).and Arrow has the wicked sharp Mud X,but is hard rubber(good for deep mud, grass, and snow, but no so much for rock). The Kenda Nevegal would be a good mud tire too if it's not too soupy(it's a 2.5)and if you clip every other transition knob.
