I'm buying the 4130 .243 racing frame from unreal cycles. Im getting the Dm24 rims (in the ss buildkit) and I was wondering what size wheels I should run. I know its a matter of personal preference but I'd like to here your guys' opinions. What wheel size combo do you recommend i run? Right now I'm leaning towards the dual 24's but I'm not sure because this is my first real burly hardtail/fr, urban, dj bike. Thanks for the opinions! Also what tires do you recommend? I want the 3 inch Gazzas but I don't know how well they roll and whatnot.. o yah and I have an 03 slider im putting up front. (6 inch dc)

thanks

I have a .243 setup with 26" front and back and a z150 (also a 6" fork). I have put up to Intense DH 2.7 front and back and as small as minion 2.35 front and back. The best setup I have found is the minion F&R 2.35 on the 321 rims. for the rougher trail up to the 2.5s. anything other just feels like a pig. The bike is too heavy to begin.

if you are runnning a six inch fork then iwould not run a 24 in the back. it will just jack the bike up big time in the front end as well as make it waaaaaaay slack fior your intended pruposes.

So I assume the 26's work better for trail riding but I won't be doing much of that because I have a Giant NRS for that but the majority of the time I'll be doing DJ and urban. :sneaky:
Yes, 26 would be better for trail riding, but this bike is not for trail riding. It is a poor pedaling bike. I use it for street, dj, mtx. I'm anti-24. 26 would have higher rotational but not if you are putting something like a 3.0 on it. 20 wheels are great for dj, bet they (bmxer type peoples) have very small tires.

and the rule of thumb is, you will never be doing anything on your hardtail that requires 3.0 gazzis.... espeacially if ur running a single crown fork, its just real heavy rolls slow all unwanted.... but they do look cool! :thumb:

It isn't going to be for downhill, just for dj, urban, and some freeride. I was wondering how the Kenda factory dh tires were for my purposes and what size (2.3 or 2.5 front and back)? thanks again

for dj and urban u really dont need big knobby dh tires at all, in fact theyre probably more of a hindrance than a help. How about getting a dj tire? arrow launch?
