When running a 26 front and a 24 rear, do you run the same width tires? I have heard its better to run a wider rear.

choice 1: 26x2.5 front and a 24x2.7 rear
choice 2: 26x2.7 front and a 24x2.7 rear

I have a 2.7x24 Highroller rear I just need a front. Its on a Big Hit.

Should I put a Minion or Highroller 2.7 or 2.5 on the front?

I ran a 2.7"x24" rear High Roller, and a 2.5"x26" Mobster front. However, that was because of cost considerations only. If I had my choice, it'd be either a High Roller 2.7" for summer lift riding up front, and and 2.5" Minion DHF for everything else.

I ran a rear intense 24x3.0 & a front michi 26x2.5 on my evil for while & then swapped out the 3.0 for a high roller 2.7 to cut back on a little weight & to get more clearance. i like the former better, but i never got to do any real DH'ing on either setup.

This is on my wifes bike. She use to run a arrow 3.0x24 rear and a Michy 2.8x26 front and said they were a little too heavy and slow.

Her rear 24" rim is a Rhino Lyte and the front 26" rim is a fat Azonic Momentum. I think a 2.7x24 on the rear and a 2.5x26 on the front might just work. The front Azonic rim is so wide and the rear Rhino rim is so narrow.

Make sense.

Don't fall in love with the Highroller 24 x 2.7. It looks like Maxxis has discountinued it in favor of the 24 x 2.5. Only the 2.5 is on their updated website. It might be time to stock up thru Jenson USA.

I prefer to have a larger tire on the front for dh. Having the rear wheel break loose first aids in cornering.
I agree, i had a specialized roller 2.6 front(more like a 3), and a 2.4 on the rear. It did amazing in the corners.

I think there's a reason for this. A 2.7 on the back is too big. 2.7f/2.5r will likely handle much better.
