Hi all, I have a Pike upper/crown+stanchions lying about, and I'm making the switch to 650b wheels soon so will need a 650b fork. My question is, is it just the lowers that get changed ? It would make my life a lot easier and cheaper...

you can just swap the lowers
but, there is a different offset to the crown for every wheel size. (but its not THAT important ... I think)

I don't think this is quite right. I think the cartridges are a different length. When I sent my Pikes for warranty a few years ago, they replaced my 26" cart with a 650b cart, and I was getting really bad bottom out noise and the fork was too linear. When I brought my fork to a tuner, he discovered the warranty centre's mistake. I'd look into it a little more if you can.

You need different air shaft. rebound damper, CSU (if you want the 650b offset) and lower legs.

So essentially, you need a new fork.

Whenever you want to know cross compatibility, as with most answers in life, check the good book and cross reference verses.

I mean part numbers.

Kidwoo spoke from the heavens and said unto thee
"If though shalt desire the kingdom of 650B, thou shalt acquire a 11.6815.006.010, a 11.6815.007.010, a 11.6818.013.000 and lastly a 11.6818.013.010"
So saith Kidwoo

Thanks gents. Though I'm pretty bummed about having some pike uppers which are now really just very expensive and impractical paperweights :nopity:

This is the Universes's way of telling to stick with 26".
I know, I know. I fought "the man" for about 3 years but I've now got an opportunity to upgrade to a better fitting frame very cheaply...whilst my 26" steed is dropping in value by the second.

Follow up: I've had a good look at the spare parts breakdown for the 2016 Pike, and interestingly the 150mm 27.5" and 160mm 26" appear to be completely identical (it even lists both in the part descriptions). So if you can get hold of an empty CSU and some lowers for cheap, this swap is very straightforward! Changing between RC and RCT3 is also pretty easy by the looks of things, with only a few compression internals that need swapping in the charger damper.
