What's RS doing with their forks? Adding a drop crown and new lowers and calling it a day, or are they redesigning the whole fork?

I can confirm that the crappy fork (niner) that came as a package deal with my frame has a 3" hole in the lowers so they can use all of the 26/27.5 internals. its weird. the rebound knob has an extension on it.

seems like a great place for dirt/mud to collect. I probably wont ride it tho as the 4 pot brake that is currently affixed to it makes it flex like crazy. there are very few things on this earth I hate more than 32mm forks.

Maybe "lost bikes" is like "missing link", predictions of design progress in 10 years.

Or weeks...

Dremel'in as we speak

Dremel'ed crown, Enduro seals, and over 10mm from using full travel. Someone is doing too much tinkering and not enough riding. Probably for the best for that bloke, though. Hate to see someone get stranded with a torn sidewall on their fancy "plus" tire.

Alright I just stepped out of the bong-shed so beer/bare/bear with me

IMO this is fucking sick. The frame looks fucking sick for a home-made 29r DH frame.

but yeah the welds look all MIG welded to me. The spatter, shape, cold looking spot welds...

but if that MIG penetrates good enough and holds up then more power to them

I agree, sick AF, monkeys had the same reaction to Dave Camp's creations a few years back... This is about as anti-dentite/ anti-lizard/ anti Luddite as you're going to get you fucking dicks!
With the exception of @troy let's see you do better!

PB did some 'testing' which was all over the place, and shows the 27.5" faster up top, but report a 5 second delta... however crunching it as a data set it's less than 2 seconds, for an inconsistent media rider on a 2 min course. Seems to sell it as so much faster but that first split time doesn't lie. Seems like it'll be quicker for some, same or worse for others, and dependent on section of trail, which they ignored by that first segment....

Either way, it's a great looking bike. Trek is killing it these days, but those prices put it out of reach for most people not sponsored by parents or in debt to get one. Oh well, guess will wait for alu model hopefully.

Glad they are offering both, but I think they will drop the 27.5 model next year depending on how race season goes.

either the kashima color is the result of some color correction, or there is another kashima color :monkey:
To keep that orange and blue from blowing out in camera you have to underexpose a stop or two. That just darkened the fork coating. If they used a Phase One for the shoot this wouldn't be an issue......

Who is buying brand new DH bikes these day? Trails are getting so dumbed down and lack of DH races all around me that I don't see the need. Additional factors being the rise of the enduro and very capable trail bikes...

That being said, I fully support the DH 29er bike movement. I just don't see the demand.

If the photog could afford having a dual Phase One working rig they'd be taking better paying gigs :D

Also, the Kasmima coating on the DHX2 I just got is that color - a lot more saturation then any other Kashima product I've seen.

That's the Trump special edition colorway.

What you can't see is the red stripe which goes 6 inches past the seat-tube like some sort of mistake.

Yeah the shock and fork I have are different the shock is much darker than the fork.....nothing in the bike industry pays.

Probably not an issue in chairlifted venues, but we're already struggling to get the one or two early 29er DH bikes to fit on shuttle trailers at races. Rather than modify the trailers I suggest we just ban the wheelsize or make them ride to the top.
