So all of the transit busses in bellingham, and BC have those sportworks racks on them (which rock the house). I can get them over my 700x35 maxxis locusts, but will those racks accomodate a 29er with big fat nevegals or wtb weirwolves?
I have not tried the transit version but my old Bob Ratchet will not go straight over the top of the tire. I lean the bike and lift the arm beside the wheel past the top then bring the bike upright and under the hook.
you can fix the Bob Ratchet issue by removing the stop on the arm so it can extend a little further (being careful not to pull it off...)
meanwhile, i have a T2 and it WILL extend enough to get over the tire, but it won't cinch down enough to 'click' and hold (with a Maxxis 2.1 Ignitor!)
so i've been forced to toss it in the back of my Element..
short of letting air out of the tires, i'm not sure of any other solution.
Bullitboys my 29'r came with the 2.1's and we switched to the 2.35's. The hook goes over cleanly and clicks down securely on the ratchet arm. Please do me a favor and measure from the front of the tray rail back to the stand-off the the ratchet arw pivots on.
If your rack is a pre 05 it will not ratchet down on a 29er. The T-2 was the first to accomidate. My old Sportworks DH rack I sold and got a new Yaki to work on my 29er.
