I've been considering a 29er after test riding a couple (Redline monocog and Cannondale Caffeine 2). I'm a big guy (6'6" 310 lbs) and I ride off road a lot. I'm not bombing off big drops (yet) but i do try to tackle most obstacles I encounter. Is wheel strength going to be such an issue that I should just stick with 26's?

Thanks for your thoughts.

get what ever you want but then put special wheels
on it.
i would look into building something up special
that has dishless rear with 5-6 speed.
i have thrashed dishless rear wheels in DH racing
with chris holm rims and they never went out of true.

hope ss hub and profile can take 6 cogs @ 9 speed spacing.

I9, WTB some others can only do 5.

wheel strength won't be an issue.

Invest in the right rims and work with a good wheelbuilder and air em up and ride on! :thumb:

At your height - 29" wheels are the way to go to put the wheelsize and frame more in proportion to your body size.
