Not sure how many read about my problems with Time Warner Cable but again yesterday I was confirmed, in a good way at least, that they are evil. So I found out I could by my own modem instead of renting their old crappy modem for way too much money. They had told me they would upgrade me to much faster speeds and a new modem for free but when I then called them they said no because I had their service through Earthlink but even switching to them would not give me more speed except if I paid more. Well my own modem arrived yesterday and it turns out that all I had to do to get more speed was a better modem. I was getting 50 mbps last night vs 15 mbps before. This is what happens when you have a monopoly they will try to do everything to screw you over as there are no other services where I live.

And my youngest son started throwing up this morning. Exactly the same time it happened last time we had a bug like that in the house. Hopefully he will not pass it on to the rest of us.

I should run this morning but it's cold, I've got shit to do, and I've got a bad case of teh lazy. Just not feeling it. Coffee now, probably should start my christmas shopping later.
Lookin' for a Comcast-compat cable modem? I have a Motorola Surfboard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0. Had it since May, '13 - no issues.
:stupid:
I've owned several Surfboards with nary a problem.

I have been refraining from posting on the GMT threads caus' it seems that all I ever post about is lack of sleep or sick kids. But this is ridiculous. We seem to be on a merry go round. As I was bringing #2 to daycare, I got a call from #1's school that he had puked all over the place. Then it was the ping-pong game with the wife about who would stay home with him first. I should be working right now instead of posting....

but this all seems trivial compared to what DirtyMike is going through... good luck man, I hope it all gets sorted out soon. I could be wrong, but don't you have a newborn at home? seems like a shitton of crap to deal with...

Morning monkeys!

Glad my kids are all old. Currently sitting in my office trying to look like I'm busy doing company stuff, but there is nothing to do. Glad I only have to work 3.5 more days this month.

Be safe out there.

Wing night. Hooray. Trying to avoid any rookie moves today.

Hope all the injured/sick monkeys out there are doing well.

On another note, there has been some serious fog here since last night. Zombie apocalypse?

Hope your Tuesday is better then your Monday was...
Challenge accepted. (even though I know that was for DM)
Yesterday's timeline:

Receive $3k rebate from health insurance for overcharges
New Nomad frame arrives
Book hotel for winter vacation
Hospital client calls with $12k in work

Before I even have time to high-five myself the mechanic calls to tell me wife's car needs $7k repair (1/2 its pre-shat bed value), which means I now need to buy her a car.

WTF kind of car is this?!?
'06 benz wagon.
Needs engine pulled to change timing chains/guides.
Been a solid, cheap to own car for last 6 years but it's getting a bullet behind the ear at this point.

Not many cheap, good sized, safe wagons around anymore and we refuse to SUV/minivan.
We've had two of these things totaled by idiot drivers and both times cops/FD responders have commented on how well the cars protected my family.

I guess you're retracting your endorsement of M-B wagons now? :D

Wife just had her 2nd trimester ultrasound. It's another girl. I'll be further outnumbered...

Heh - never would have taken you for a vain MF. :D
I personally don't care as I'm rarely in her vehicles.
I'd get an honda mv in a heartbeat.
She just hates large cars, which is why I am now Driving Miss Daisy until we find a replacement as my F250 scares the shit out of her on our tiny streets. (town founded in 1629)

I'll keep my endorsement of them being excellent candidates for surrounding oneself during high-energy impacts.
All bets are off outside those parameters.

The mass balance will still be in your favor for quite a while.
It's the mental warfare that gets you.

CBJ, Volvos are under consideration.
Trying to see if we can downsize to a 4dr gti, either new or preferably certified used.

That wagon is all of 1" shy in length of my Land Cruiser! Width, height, curb weight, and mileage are a different story, but that's not the point.

Dan, any thought of getting a quote from another shop? I've seen 100% variation for the same service when getting quotes. New England has to have Euro specialists...

No way a Honda minivan is much bigger than that MB wagon.

Your wife is an anti-vanite. NTTAWWT.

My 2001 XC70 has 249,841 miles on the original engine and it passed the CA Smog test two months ago I get a combined 22mpg and its AWD

our smaller wagon is the 2012 VW Jetta Sporwagen TDI with 48,000 miles on it with no take it to the shop troubles and it gets in the mid 40's combined city/hwy on Diesel.

The Diesel F350 4x4 Crew Cab Longbed... well it has a 38 gallon tank for a reason

I wonder If that would work for TW business class. Mine is $50/mo. for 7.5 mbps. The next plan up is only 10.5 mbps and not enough of a boost to justify monthly expense.

As far as evil goes, TW has nothing on AT&T. I spent three months trying to renew my contract with them after a sales rep disconnected me as I was verbally agreeing to the contract. Never could get it straightened out. They cancelled the account and then tried to collect the balance for a three year contract that I didn't agree to. Fuck them.

Wow that is a bad deal. I pay 40 and now getting 50 mbps. Got 15 before.

Yeah biz class blows.

What plan are you on with TW, 15 mbps ?

Just wondering if buying a new modem would give me the max speed for the area. If it's only 10.5 mbps, then probably not worth it.
