Finding a decent used bike is not proving to be to successful. Most are either a size large or not something that I'm too fond of.
I went to the bike shop today to hopefully test ride and possibly buy a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp Evo 26" but along with none being in stock to test ride, they guessed that it would be February before they are available. That's a lot longer than I want to wait, but it is currently the bike that I want the most. It seems that it would be the most fun.
Another bike that caught my eye at the shop is the Scott Genius 740. This bike has 27.5" wheels which looks interesting and is something that I would like to give a try. I just learned of this bike today so I don't know much about it.
And the last bike, which is also significantly cheaper, is the Grand Canyon AL 29er. I am leaning towards the 8.9 version, but I could also go towards the 7.9 or 9.9 depending. This bike would be much better for getting around town and riding some of the paved and gravel bike paths. I've never had a 29er, so I'm interested in giving it a try.
Either bike would be my do everything Cross Country/ All-Mountain, 15-20min commute across the city bike. In the late Spring I would like to make a trip to the Alps to ride in the mountains, which is probably what's keeping me from just getting the 29er Hardtail... that and my favorite parts of the ride are when the trail points downhill.

Thoughts, opinions, any experience with either bike?
