thats a hell of a conspiracy theory ya got there JMAC.

How about the idea that these disasters occur as means for a positive check on population in countries that can not support the current population.

As some have mentioned, lack of building codes and proper planning add to the effects. Also, because many of the people in these countries are poor, they often live in high density on marginal land. Think about people dying in landslides (common in parts of asia, south and central america)- nobody in their right mind would build a house and live on an unstable slope like that, unless there was no other choice.

That works to, but it's not very ethical. LOL I still like my conspiracy theory, I;m sticking with it for now.
