Its just around 35lbs. Rides like a dream.

That is a nice bike Devotion, but NobbyNic's on an dh bike?
Man, then it's EASY to build a 35-36 bike. Just but lousy xc-tires on it.

I don't know what terrain you ride, but those tires worked for 30 minutes on my xc/trailbike, 6Pack. They came off right after i tore the sidewall on some random rock. I can't run less then 40psi because of pinchflattes, and running any less than 40psi also makes the sidewalls wander off in to space. They are so thin...

BigBettys are better, but still no dh-tire.

But hey, I could get my DHR down 1.2 kgs too with those tires... :)

Yes I did :)

But my experience with those tires tells me they are not dh-material.
But I do not know what the terrain is like where he/you ride. If it is hardpack without rocks or roots, so you can ride with high air-pressure without loosing traction, they should work nicely.

Hehe, the nobby's are just a test. Which is a part of my little project: Save weight without expensive ti/carbon stuff.

I'm going to test the Nobby Nic's in Åre (Sweden's mini whistler) in a couple of weeks.

If they don't hold up I'm going ghetto tubeless with Highroller LUST 2.35

Ah, tjena!

Ah, bring some other tires to Åre :) I have been there alot...
But a nice test to see how low(weight) you can go. Bring mud-tires too...just in case of rain the NN will be completely useless.

Have a nice time in Åre. Unfortunately(??) I have moved to Oslo, from Trondheim now, so Åre is a bit far away...have a nice one, I guess you will be there for the Mayhem?

Tja :)

Yeh, I'm bringing my old Bettys, since I'll probobly rip the sidewalls on Hellrajd... 3rd year in a row for me.

I'll be up there for Mayhem and the week before :).

Cheers

Its an older rig, (03, Gemini 1000 frame) But I honestly havent ridden anything that made me want to fork out the extra dough for something better. Ive ridden bikes that felt way better, but none that felt as right as this... I guess Im used to it. Im faily light myself (140lbs) And this bike weighs ~37lbs... Last time I weighed it was years ago, so i dont have it down to decimals. I never built it for lightness... it just turned out that way. I used to actually feel a bit inferior, having a light DH rig... I guess I was always fortunate, and didnt realize it :) And no... I will never part with my Love Seat... no matter how many people make fun of it. (and the stupid cat you see in the picture likes to sleep on it.... and claw it. and after 4 or so years of that going on, 3 full race seasons, and many many hours of riding... its still in good shape.)

wow, this thread is still alive... just as an update, my bike is now 38lbs. whats new is a go-ride integrated stem, easton monkey lite dh bars, lg-1 chain guide and a ti shox spring. i also calculated that i can drop my bike weight to 36lbs if i get new 5.1s/hope pro2 wheel set. but its getting a bit stupid then. i am not even trying anymore. i even put back dh tubes front and back to make the bike heavier for training.:bonk: :ban:

My yakuza is 2.5 pounds closer to 40 pounds than it used to be. It was 44 pounds before, but I took out the dh tubes and replaced them with xc tubes, and replaced the back 2.5 tire with a brand new maxxis minion dhr 2.5. I also got a new stem! Its now 41.5 pounds.

I could easily get 4o pounds if I had a bunch of money. Ti spring, lg1, boxxer wc, lighter handlebar!

Here she is in my backyard.

Double your pleasure, double your funn!

What to do now??? I'm at 42.6lbs on this Demo. Thought I'd be at about 40lbs when I got finished, oops! Guess that didn't happen.
What tubes are you running? Look at some lighter cranks maybe?

And also, that's 42 pounds 6 ounces (42.375).

Is it just me or does the Chumba's seat mast look a little off to the left? Really doesnt matter as long as the headtube/dropouts/BB are all aligned since you never really sit perfectly centered on the saddle.

Thanks for the math correction. I've got the light weight tubes (never had a problem with flats because of the Maxxis tires). Yeah, I thought about changing cranks but I like the dependability of these. Wish Sunline made a 25.4 direct mount stem for the 888. Currently I have the Funn Direct stem.

Also I was hoping some of these sub 40lb Demo people would chime in with there builds. If you look at my build I have some light weight stuff other then the crank, fork and shock. I've seen some 38lb demos on here and i'm trying to figure out how they did it. Maybe they're scale is off hmmm???

My Demo weighs 40 pounds 2.5 ounces:

I have really light wheels though. (15/16g spokes and alloy nips). That's on a digi scale by the way, but I think it might be optimistic or yours is pissed.

You can save some weight but not much. The only things i could see you changing without drastically changing the specs would be:

Pedals - 50/50 XX to Wellgo MG-1 (Save about 180grams)
Stem - Funn RSX to Thomson Elite 50mm (Save about 80grams)
Cassette - Sram PG-990 11-32 to Dura-Ace 11-23 (Save about 150grams)
Rotors - Avid to Forumula Oro (Save about 25grams)

Thats just under a pound of weight there. To save more you could change your cranks, brake levers and rims which could probably drop another pound if you went for Middleburns RS7s, Avid Juicy Ultimates and DT Swiss 5.1ds.

I think your bike is awesome how it is. How does it ride with the Cane Creek Double Barrel and the 888RC2x World Cup?

BTW that Morewood is sick. You could make it 35 no problem.
I agree, that bike looks great.

As an owner of the same bike, I question the weight as well as the ability to get it to 35 pounds (in a resonable manner without sacrificing too much strength).

Mine is a similar build with lighter wheels (dt 5.1 on Hadleys w/Supercomps), lighter cranks (Holzfeller OCT), lighter fork (Totem Solo Air), same bar/stem/rear shock, and heavier brakes/seat/post/chainguide. Mine weighed in at 35.3 with single-ply Kenda Small Blocks and just a hair over 36 with the tires in the pic. I figure my build with a pair of 2.5 3C Minions would be 39lbs. The listed weight on Matt's doesn't sound far off, just a little on the lighter side of reality.

I used a My Weigh 7000x scale and the Sicklines Spreadsheet and weighed every part...
That sure enough sounds like an accurate measurement then. I used an Ultimate hanging digital scale on the complete bike. If it's lighter than what I weighed I'm not going to complain.

You could do 35 no prob as long as you're not a hack.

I-Fly/cut I-beam, LG-1, e13 ring, Dura-ace cassette/chain, Thomson stem, Easton bars, Juicys, 5.1s/Hopes/Sapims, Ti spring, Totem Air, X0 stuff, XT cranks, MG-1s w/ ti, etc.

I think someones scale is wrong, and I'm hoping it's mine.

X9 shifter/derailer, Juicy's, Gravity mega-exo cranks, and everything else lighter across the board and the Topeak stand/scale says 34.6lbs.
