just finished building this up a few weeks ago.

weighed in at 39.2 but i'd really like to confirm that with a second scale. i've have a ti-spring on it's way and the vented rotors will likely be tossed for non-vented one. those 3 items should get the bike under 38....
That's the hottest Socom I've seen. :thumb: I'd like to know what it would weigh with the Boxxer WC. Did you get the different Rotors and the Ti Spring? I have the V2 Hope Brakes, and I'd like to toss the vented rotors and replace it with a regular.

I have been on quite a few bikes in the past and I can honestly say that the swd is just a really fast bike. It corners better, jumps better, and just floats over everything that I have been on. The steel frame is super quiet and it pretty much will take anything you can throw at it, from huge hucks to high speed dh courses.

I got to spend some hard days on it at Northstar and it handled everything out there with ease.

The frames are handbuilt to your spec, pretty much custom as it gets and the pricepoint is pretty amazing. I don't want to sound like an advertisment, but I really do believe in the bikes and the company.

What's the trick to getting large pictures uploaded on Ridemonkey? I always have to reduce them to not much larger than a thumbnail to get them to accept the upload.

That swd racing is ****ing sweet!!

my orange is 38.6 pounds with steel coils in the front and rear, so they can easily be done up 36 and a half pounds.

im sure the socom weighs about the same but i would trust the durability of the orange.

Right now she weighs 42.5 lbs. I'm going down to the garage to make her as "race" as I can with what's laying around. TBC.....

by the way, it's a proto 2008 Scott Gambler w/ Formula "The One" GM brakes and a 220mm rotor.

Lightest for sure is socom - 8.5 lbs with shock.
Lapierre dh-230 is close at something around 9 (8.8 with air shock)

standard setup just not on a felt full carbon roadie frame like that.

ohh and that orange is pretty sick but i am still extremely skeptical about running an air shock in the rear of my dh bike. who knows though maybee in a few years when the technology is acctually there i might start considering them.

Well my DH-230 is just over 42lb and that's with some lighter stuff than the stock build (SDG I beam and alloy trough-axle). There's no way the frame weighs in at 8.8lb. That's just the weight taken off the CycleSuperStore.ie website and it can't be correct. Even the 18.5 kg (approx 40.7 lb) quoted on the Lapierre site for the bike isn't right.

The Socom is significantly lighter and feels it when you ride it. The stock DH230 is a solid construction. That's why Nico has had his on a serious diet. I bet that's more in line with the Socom's 8.8lb! I'm saving for a Socom.
