i searched and found nothing. i am looking for a 5" (possibly up to 6") frame that is capable of jumps and drops and general dh riding (minimal lift assisted, mostly all mountain style dh) i was thinking a heckler (maybe) possibly a turner rail? or is the geo. not suited to climbing at all? i think the 5 spot is not aggro enough and i dont want to void the warranty. i doubt it but would a 5" rfx be a good option if i can find one? maybe a rm switch but i really wanted 5" to mathc the front. btw, an 03 psylo sl will be going on this.

A 5" RFX is IMO unbeatable for what you're asking. The 5spot gets great reviews as a perfectly dialed trailbike. The RFX geo is so close, just a slightly higher BB and slightly longer CS's. I rocked a 5"x5" RFX for XC all last year, it pedals well. But at the same time it is an old school freerider and can handle just about anything punishment-wise. Dirt jumps, drops, slalom/MTX, DH, whatever. It doesn't care. I love the bike!

If you can't find an RFX and have some time to wait, the "6-pack" from Turner will be the return of the RFX. A 6" beefcake bike that can still pedal. I for one can't wait to see it.

Enduro and Enduro SX might fit the bill... for a lot less bills. Big hit is anoption too I suppose.

I think the 5 spot would hold up fine for what you described.

The Saber is a little more beefcake than a 5 spot and is available now unlike a 6 pack (unless you're talking beer and the corner liquor store can take of that ;) )

Goddamn I'm a 4bar whore, look at that list!

Fine, the Heckler fits the bill too, nice replacable dropout too! :)

I second that on the coiler -- 5" stinkies rule!

Hecklers are damn nice too though, and I bet they're lighter.

I too have a Foes FXR frame for sale except that I have the top of the line model with the Curnutt shock and Ti spring. Mine is a large black frame and shows some wear as it should. It just came back from Foes and the Curnutt is rebuilt like new and the frame is solid as the day it was sold. Pictures are in the Buy and Sale section under frames.
I'm asking $750

I'd put money that you won't be disappointed with an RFX. If you have the cash, pony up the dough and never buy another bike again. If you don't, look to the Saber. If I were to build up a bike like that, both would be highly considered.

Just to add fuel to the fire, I have an Arrow Ds3 which is highly capable, good for jumps, relatively burly, and has max travel at 4.5". It is a concentric pivot, so it doesn't pedal very well, but it's a neat bike if you're looking for something different. You can run 24's and 26's on it, and with a good sized seatpost it feels like a regular sized bike, despite the short seat tube. I'm not spamming, just throwing out an idea. The frame is relatively cheap, and I can promise few people will know what you're riding.

Yea, turner has released some info on the 6-pack on the TURNER forum on MTBR. Sound like one frame that would do what you want. Alot depends on your price range, and time youll want to wait.....

That's a really broad question, since there's a ton of bikes like you want. Any preferences regarding frame/suspension design? What's your price range? If money's an object, go for the Transition Preston FR.

I am using with great success a specialized SX for exactly what you describe....coupled with a Z1 fork. Awesome combo.

Also check Preston FR, Coiler, Heckler, AC, Chapparal.

Just about any bike mentioned thus far would be fine, but be aware of getting one that's too light if you want to do any DH-type riding with it. How important is weight, and do you have a specific budget?

Definitely RFX -- not the "strongest" thing in the world (I broke mine, actually) but it pedals great, works well for all-mountain-style DH stuff, and can handle a very wide range of riding. After I get mine fixed (if?) I may be looking to sell it cheap. The 5-spot is definitely not what you're looking for.

Failing that, I'd probably look 1st at the Banshee Chaparral. It sounds like pretty much the only thing currently in production that fits the bill. Or if you want more meat I guess the Scream would be cool, but that's like 14lbs of pork right there.....

weight is not important at all as i do everything with my 37 lb. hardtail right now. IMO, heavier/burlier is better to an extent. i am willing to spend up to 1500. i like walking beam 4 bar frames and fsr's.

You need the Astrix Stryke. It has 5.5". I got it a few days before the Snowmass nat. It rides great, you can sprint and have no bob. Jumps nice and smooth. You can do dh on it if you like.

The frame was $1499. I got it form Drope Zone Cycling in San Antonio, Tx.
It rides grate on dh. I need a new fork.
You can look on www.astrixsports.com for angels/geo.

ive got a giant AC1 frame forsale that fits this bill perfect i ran it with a Dj3 and a 100 mm stem and it climbs and decends like a dream. its a medium and a 2003 in great condition. its a really fun bike and half the price of some of the other frames.
