I have a 5th element on my Scream and I would like to buy an Avy.
I do mostly big freeride and thats why I'm leaning toward Avy.
I could buy one but the size i to i is 7.5 and my banshee is 7.875, would it fit?
If no, I could buy one for about 300$ but it don't have the high/low compression adjustement that cost the 100$ extra bucks. Does this extra worth the bucks? Well, will I see a huge difference between the Avy and the 5th element on drops and freeride?

Thanks in advance
Max

Post this in the DH forum and you'll get much more response. Won't necessarily mean 80% of the advice is sound, but there's ton's of people over there chompin at the bit to answer questions like this and pretend they know what the hell they're talkin about.

Actually, a swinger and a 5th element have the same adjustement it's just that manitou count the spring preload as one adjustement. and between the two, there isn't much difference IMO. the only one is that the 5th element is sligthy more ligthweight then the 6way.

Could a Mod move this to the DH forum please?

I think you should go with the 5th, Avy's feel real good but they dont pedal as well. The 5th will have less small bump performance. I guess it just comes down to your riding...are you going to freeriding?Racing? Both? I would say the 5th is the best dual duty. And when i say 5th i mean the manitou as well...both quality offerings

Avy. you won't regret it. it'll pedal almost as well as the 5th, but have better small bump and big hit performance

well Avy is my dream shock. I think I'll get one but I need to sell my 5th element since the trade with the 7.5 avy don't work anymore.

Anyone interested in a mint condition 7.875 by 2.25 stroke 5th element? :D
