I've heard rumblings about a fork similar to the breakout+ (6-7" travel, SC) but with a 1-1/8" steerer tube that might be in the works for release this year... is there any truth to this??

Yeah, it's called a Z150.

I seriously doubt that's true. 1.5 is a lighter and stronger way of doing that, and Manitou pushed the 1.5 HARD. I doubt they'd put out a 1.125 and effectively prove themselves wrong. Leave that to the stubborn folks over at Marzocchi.
