Ohio man beaten, raped after peering into child's bedroom

AUGUST 18--An apparent peeping Tom was sexually assaulted with a tree branch after being discovered peering into the bedroom window of a five-year-old Ohio girl. Mario Russo, 44, was viciously beaten by a group of six attackers, including the child's mother, 28-year-old Stacy Umstott (pictured below in the large mug shot from North Royalton Police Department). Along with a 15-year-old girl who was not identified, the other assailants nabbed were--left to right in the smaller booking photos--stripper Athena Lemieux, the girl's 20-year-old aunt; Nicholas Phipps, 21; Brandon Breedon, 21; and Khalid Arafat, 34. According to a harrowing police report, officers found Russo covered in blood and crumpled on the grass outside the apartment building where the assailants were arrested last Saturday. With his pants at his ankles and his face swollen, Russo was found with "a twig inserted into his rectum and there was false teeth laying in the grass next to the male," according to cops. A witness told investigators that he heard a female attacker yelling, "put it in his ass, he wants it in his ass." The attackers have been charged with assaulting and raping Russo, who is in fair condition in the intensive care unit of Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center.

An alleged peeping Tom remains in the intensive care unit after reportedly being assaulted with a tree branch, NewsChannel5 reported.

Officials said Mario Russo, 44, was attacked after he was spotted outside a bedroom window wearing his pants around his ankles and watching a 5-year-old girl who was sleeping in a unit at the Bunker Ridge Apartments.

Russo was reportedly hiding in bushes.

Police said after he was discovered a group of six people, include the girl's mother, aunt and their boyfriends attacked him and brutally beat him for more than an hour.

The girl's mother, Stacy Umstott, 28; her aunt, Athena Lemieux, 20; Brandon Breedon, 21; Nicholas Phipps, 21; and Khald Arafat, 34; and a 15-year-old are in police custody. They face felonious assault and rape charges. Murder charges could be filed if Russo dies.

The girl's aunt admitted to sexually assaulting Russo with a tree branch, police said.

The incident was caught on tape.

Meanwhile, police said that citizens should not take matters into their own hands

"To take matters into their own hands like they did was just way, way beyond reason," North Royalton Detective Jay Drake said.

Maybe the reason I didn't peek was less taking a moral decision and more a result of paranoia amplified by my fear of the parental units smelling and correctly identifying the scent of burning cannabis. I thought that toweling the door and exhaling out my cracked bedroom window through a TP tube stuffed w/dryer sheets would be sufficient precaution against a "talk with your kids about drugs" moment.

No...I had far too little experience with women or confidence in my ability to attract or please one back then to do anything CRAAZY like ask her out. Arkansas Girl's Body Found

GILMORE, Ark. — The body of a 7-year-old girl missing since Sunday was found Thursday night in a northeastern Arkansas field not far from where her shoes and pink bicycle had been recovered days earlier.

The family's pastor, the Rev. Stephen Chitman, said police searching among corn and soybean fields found the body of Patricia Ann Miles (search), who disappeared Sunday morning after riding her bike to a grocery store. Television footage showed family members wailing after officers told them about her death.

Neither the state police nor the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office would provide further details Thursday night.

Patricia's pink bicycle was found early Monday in a cornfield, about 100 yards from her shoes.

A family friend was arrested on a kidnapping charge and was being held on $1 million bond. Jo Ann Buchanan, who occasionally baby-sat the girl, has refused to cooperate with authorities.

Investigators have not offered a motive for the kidnapping and Buchanan's relatives have insisted she is innocent.

Witnesses have said they saw the girl get into a van with Buchanan Sunday morning and later saw Buchanan take the girl's bicycle from the van in a rural area north of Gilmore, in northeastern Arkansas.
