Hey all got the choice between a 6way swingerand a dhx 5.0 to go in my giant dh comp the 6way has just been serviced and came off a 06 dh comp and the dhx is only a few months old, the swinger is about $200 cheaper than the dhx and the dhx dosnt come with eyelets, im not sure to spend the extra 200+cost of eyelets on the dhx or get the swinger.
Any recomendations?
Cheers

You dont need one but it makes things easier when tuning the shock, and no the dhx dosent have a remote res, its just got a piggy back
Fox is making remote reservoir shock's like the manitou swingers, marzocchi rocco, avalanche Dhs etc.Fox is making remote reservoir shock's since they developed the vanilla DH shock. If you want proof than look at the previous Turner DHR,those bikes are running a dhx5.0 remote.

I hate to grave dig, but does anyone knwo the shock length for the DH comp? I have a friend who is just getting back into riding and needs a shock, but I don't know the size. is it 9.5 x3? or 8.75 x2.75? (or something strange)?

99% sure it's actually 9.0 x 2.75, it was a custom size IIRC. Don't know why they thought that was necessary over an 8.75x2.75 but apparently they did.

medford, or
I have an 8.75x 2.75 on my dh comp. Stock they came with the 9.0x 2.75. Get the shorter shock. The dhx 5 on mine doesnt hit anything and is much better than the swinger that was on it. The shorter shock lowers the bb which makes the bike handle so much better. I actually want to try a 8.5x 2.5 on mine.

Thanks! that's exactly what I needed.

for the giant, a Fox DHX works better, makes the bike more responsive.
The manitou, works with most hydraulic, and no need for the giant, as it will lose sensitivity.
It depends on money that you can spend.
