I'm thinking about building up a new single speed, and I'm kicking around the idea of trying 650b wheels. It will be a XC oriented hard tail. Is it a good idea to get a frame intended to run 26's that fits 650's or a dedicated 650b frame? I like the idea of changing back to 26 if I don't like the 650b, but I'm afraid the geometry might be weird with the bigger wheels. Does anybody have experience with a 650b single speed and want to share some thoughts?

I believe the Surly 1x1 works well with 650b. Would be worth checking out.

im just curious as to what your interest in 650b is? just trying something different? have you spent time on a 29er? or have you always been on 26's?

Soma B-Side another good choice

Older Bianchi SS frames are good conversion candidates as well.

My interest is just to try something different. I've have not owned a 29er, so I don't have much time on one. A 29er might be an option since there are more tires available than 650b.
