I know someone who's looking for a new fork for his P3, and I also know someone who is looking to sell their 66. But I'm not sure the P3 is capable of handling a 66... any thoughts?

That first someone will bust the P3's geo. It's designed to run a 80-100 mm fork, not to mention the possibility of simply ripping the front off in a flat landing. That bike isn't designed for the amount of leverage a 180mm can put in the front.
If its one of the original 66's with 160 you might be ok, even then..... the 66 is a really tall single crown fork. If he is looking for something cheap, thats easy to service, Jensons has the 55r's for cheap, set at 140MM of travel. Should be a good combo with the P series.

Err, I think you got that backwards. the original 66's with 160 were really tall forks (probably as tall as the current 180's). And thus the current 180's are not what you'd call a "tall fork"

No No.... the original 66 was shorter. The 180's are extra tall. Still even the older one was friggin tall. Alot of people dont realize the current 66 is every bit as tall as the 888's In fact my 07 66 is 5mm taller than the 2010 Boxxer rec atc setting.
