Don't get me wrong here, I totally understand that the point of these things is to keep your knee/shin pads from slipping. I ain't that slow.

But, by making a product such as this, isn't 661 pretty much admitting to the fact that their pads fit poorly and are prone to slipping? IMO, if 661 is gonna charge $50+ for a set of pads, there's no way in hell that you should have to pay an extra $25 for the Pad Locks just to get your pads to perform the way they're supposed to. It just doesn't make sense to me. Pads should be able to stay in place by themselves, and instead of designing a product to keep pads in place, why wouldn't 661 put more time and energy into making their pads fit better so that they stay in place by themselves? Stuff like this bugs me.

maybe they do fit well, and they just put out a product so they get more money and stupid ppl feel better about their pads or maybe they do suck who knows dont knock it till you try it

Well, actually I am gonna knock it before I try it, because as long as pads are designed properly, these things really should never be needed.

So there. I knocked it. Now what're you gonna do about it?

most of the pads slipped anyway... I have Bombshell pads and they slip like crazy so I ordered the 661 Pad Locks.
Roach are supposed to be pretty good regarding slippery, from what I heard.

You could buy lycra leg warmers or whatever they're called and use that instead. I'm sure it'll be cheaper than getting the actual 661 things.

ALL pads slip unless they're attached to a suit like Dainese.

The only way I see pads not slipping is if they extend down to the top of your ankle. That way they can't move down since there's no where to move down to!

Padlocks aren't stupid, people who buy anything except $12-15 moto knee cups and a pair of padlocks are stupid... Once again, thor quadrant knee-shins and a pair of knee warmers are the best $17+$20 anyone could ever spend on protective gear.

The Pad Locks where ther perfect solution for me. I have used the same 661 race knee/shin pads for about two years now. I wore them everytime i rode my bike (about 4-5 times a week) and so now they are worn out and flop all over the place because the stiching is trashed. So instead of paying $80 for new pads i just spent $20 on the pad locks and now i have gotten another season out of my gear.

If you crash the right way, all knee pads are gonna move.
I have 2 buddies who cracked their kneecaps this year, both through pads,
both wearing different kinds of high quality gear.
Those padlocks are cheaper than a Dr. visit.

how thick and durable are these pad locks? How do they fair in crashes (in rocks) compared to your basic knee warmer?
A regular lycra knee warmer will shred when you crash. The pad locks are pretty thick on the front an have a very durable and breathable fabric on the back. I have used my Pad Locks for the better part of this season and no rips or tears yet. They look almost new except that 75% of my riding and 100% of my racing this year has been in mud so now my pretty white logos have been stained brown. Only downside i can see is that they make getting your pads off after a race a little more work.

If only you could get them without the 661 logo ;) They might be a better solution than using knee warmers since, like you said, they tear easily when you crash in rocks. I've gone through one pair already this year, and at $20 a pair, might be cheaper to just get the 661's. I might consider them once my few pairs of knee warmers are shot.

the point is that they make your knee pads not move at all in a crash.
thats pretty valuable in my opionion.
ever crash with kneepads on and still end up with bloody knees?
of course you have.
thats why I run the 661 padlocks. pads dont budge in a crash.
I even cut all the straps off my dainese knee/shin (they were ripping anyway)
pads without straps still dont move with the padlocks installed!
Minaar uses them too. he knows whats up as you can see.
