‘Wh’ is Fff. You normally break up a word after a vowel too, so for example ‘Makara’ is often pronounced by non-locals basically as ‘Mak-rer’ but should be pronounced ‘Mac-Kar-Raa’.

Also Taupo, as in Lake Taupo, is often pronounced ‘tau-po’ but should be ‘Toe-paw’. I can’t claim to be any type of expert though.
