saw one in the pink bike classifieds not too long ago (~2 weeks). Think it was new, so the guy was asking decent money for it.

I'm not limited to the RC, I just knew such a shock existed.
I would probably love an Avalanche but I don't want to spend that much $$$.

If your lookin to ditch the romic, get a Pushed RC, Darren has many shocks at his shop, and probably one the size you want

FWIW, it was an OEM-only thing. I had one on my Brodie Devo back when.
I've seen a couple in that size on Ebay recently, might want to keep an eye on that.
Alternatively, the Push guy might be able to make one for you out of a 7.5x2.0 which is a lot more common....
