So e13's wheels use only an e13 cassette because the cassette has the freehub built into it. I'm interested in a 7speed hub where the flanges are spread out more like the e13. So I'm not interested in throwing spacers behind the cassette.

Who makes hubs and cassettes meant specifically for this application besides sram? I'd like a 28 or 30t large cog if possible. Thats why I'm looking elsewhere besides sram.

The SRAM 7 speed DH cassettes fit on normal freehubs with spacer taking up the slack behind the biggest cog, 24 for XD or 25T for HG IIRC.

The only other thing which might come close that I'm aware of is something like a Hope SS/Trials hub where you custom make your cassette to fit the short freehub?

Y Not.

157 is just 150 with 3.5 mm dropout recess each side.

for greater spoke angle and higher strength/rigidity obviously.
especially now we have 29" rims in DH
also the aim shouln't just be for MOAR flange spread but evenly spaced flanges for a zero dish rear wheel and even tension between drive and non drive side spokes.
Hopefully that makes sense to you.

Hence my question. 150/157 DH hubs have evenly spaced flanges. But maybe he wants to use the 7sp cassette with a non-dh frame.

Reverse has both 150 and 157mm with a hyperglide body

That one looks good. Reliable? Easy to get parts for?

Another question. What "speed" cassette is a 7speed cassette made from? 10, 11, or 12? Does it matter. I might try and piece one together.

you mean cassette sprocket spacing?
Shimano HG 7 speed DH is 10 speed spacing. SAINT/ZEE shifters and mechs are 10 speed cable pull ratio
SRAM DH 7 speed mini block cassette is 11 speed spacing as is the cable pull ratio of SRAM's 7spd DH mech and shifter

If you use HG freehub you can split cassettes and build your ideal ratio for 7 speed and you'll be free to space it to whatever shifter/mech you prefer. Avoid wide range/high max sprocket mechs though

Does anybody still do a shifter plate to reduce the number of gears the shifter has?
I remember someone making them but it may have been Zerode when they used shimano hubs....

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I have an extra Zee derailleur sitting around that I can use on the new build.

Zee derailleurs are great. Shimano has now discontinued them so if you see another anywhere. Snap it up
