Is it possible to use a 73mm BB with some appropriate spacers on a 68mm BB shell and an E-Type derailleur?

If it wasn't for the E-Type derailleur, I'd guess it's not possible...but can I do it with a E-Type derailleur?

I just measured a 68x110 e-type and a 73x110. The spindles are the same length, the cart. asm . is the same length. The only real difference is the e-type has a slightly raised ridge where the der. sits. So if you use a non e-type it might be able to shift very(very) slightly, but probvably no problem.
