Long story short, RaceFace warrantied my Evolve DHs and sent me a set for 73mm shells (though my Heckler runs a 68mil). I installed it, didn't think to check it, rode it, felt it, now am almost positive its a 73mm setup (due to the ~5mm gap)...

I am about to leave to ride for a week over spring break, my question is will anything break? Right now there is that 5mm gap, but the bearings are external so I don't know what would actually break. All I can forsee is poor front ring shifting due to the crankarm sliding back and forth. Enlighten me oh wise mechanics.

There is no such thing as a 68mm specific external crank (look on the RF site, it is pretty clear what bb shell sizes are available).

Whoever installed your cranks, screwed up, period! If it was a shop, take it back...whover the mechanic is, have them read the install instructions.

I installed the cranks :poster_oops:

You're right though. There are spacers that go between the frame and BB cups. For some reason, they were not installed on the previous set and with my new set, I just left the BB installed, so had a gap. It looks like once I throw the spacers behind the BB, it'll be set. Thanks.
