have a '05 7point that i haven't ridden yet, got it in october. When i pulled the frame out of the box i noticed play at the shock pivots, so i talked to IH (who were very helpfull and quick) and they sent me the proper hardware.
I finally got to install the hardware about a month later, still had some play. I talked to IH agian, they refered me to the shock manufacturer for a DU bushing. After numerous emails and small packages, im still not sure i have the right bushing. The bushing in the shock is definately made of plastic and the one i recieved is metal with plastic on the inner surface. the "shock pin" will fit through the new bushing. however, when i pressed out the old bushing and began to press the new bushing in, it would not press in using a vise. so,the outside diameter of the new bushing appears to be different. not wanting to ruin the shock, I put the old bushing back in and reassembled everything.

My question are:
1) am I doing something wrong when i press the bushing?
2) could play becoming from the interface between the linkage and the "shock pin"? if this is the case, the washers provided by ironhorse with the upgrade hardware are too thick, where could i find some about a 1mm thick?
3) is it safe to ride as is?

Any help is appreciated. i just got this bike completly built and really look forward to riding it, just getting frustrated trying to get this little quirk worked out.

The IH's will always have a small amount of play...I have an 05 7point5, and even with the new hardware (all metal) and the new lower pivot, it still has some play when I pick up on the saddle. As long as there is no side-side play, and the up-down play doesn't get any worse, you should be fine.

i just e-mialed IH , hoping to confirm that. I haven't ridden my bike since i got it, not wanting to damage any hardware.
